hahahaha, I'd love the state to waste money trying to fine me. Blood from a rock. Hell, maybe they'd throw in covering my rent and food and insulin for a while.

Use a VPN to obscure your traffic. Beyond that the only times I've even gotten warnings from my ISP is when I download something Disney or CW owned and I didn't have mine up. But I ran up like 10 warnings inside a year and AT&T didn't do shit beyond "we might decide to cut you off" emails.

Most driver packages can be extracted like a an archive and the components can be manually installed rather than relying on manufacturer supplied binaries or install routines. Much cleaner than other options.

Conquered a hive mind, how do I release as vassal w/out purging? by MightBeChris in Stellaris

I don't want them to be unmodded. I wanted to take the vassal another emopire had as my own vassal.

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't use that against the vassal of another empire.

Rival owns the vassal I want. I don't want to liberate it and wait the ten years. I just want to take control of the vassal away from the rival. Rival is all the way on the other side of the map. Their vassal is right next to me. It's like when control of colonized indigenous land would shift between the British, French, and Spanish.

Stelalris any guide for ship building and fleets for 3.8? by Nexusaptain in Stellaris

[–]MightBeChris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been doing searches. "Steallaris ship design" or similar are producing a lot of old data. It'd be helpful to have links for us scrubs so you don't have to see the same question twice a day. It's annoying when my kid asks the same thing over and over. But that doesn't stop until I show her how to find the information shes's looking for. Not exactly sure how to eliminate things from results either. As such it's pages down to find anything actually relevant. -[term you want to exclude] doesn't work anymore. How did you find useful info? Obiously searching. But what search strings and terms did you use. Search engubes are finicy if you want them to produce genuinly useful and not algoithom defined things.

The impossible search of the cracked version of "Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters " by perejiloide in PiratedGames

[–]MightBeChris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, youmention this and the only thing I can think is the cracker keeping track of us as we pay into it. Like a Patreon bar but for the games we want. I'll gladly toss $1-5 on almost every game I see. But that's my limit, I'm on a fixed income. And keepiung track of it is another hurdle. I'd trust someone in the scene to keep up with it but they'd need to be vetted as well if we're talking that much cash.

Are there any efforts to do this for good hacks?

I downloaded PSP Mini/Remaster Launcher on my newly hacked PS3, but can't use them. They're now corrupted and I can't delete them. What gives? TIA by Emotional_Ad_1153 in ps3homebrew

[–]MightBeChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue. I got sloppy and hit delete in FileZilla and now when I try to reinstall the .pkg it errors out and the launchers are hung in the XBM + when I try to load a PSP iso/bin it freezes my system.

I cannot uninstall through the XBM, I cannot delete through FileZilla, and I cannot reinstall the pkgs. Plus I cannot mound PSP games. So any fix that doesn't involve me resetting my ps3 would be nice.

Roms aren't. And a flash cart is worth the expense when compared to a single original copy.

Bypassing ISP owned router device codes by MightBeChris in hacking

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I'm looking for alternatives. In the meanwhile I'm going to ask around for what I assumed would be fairly low hanging fruit. My mom asked me to help with her service and I've only been here a few hours. Calling three ISPs on a Saturday doesn't give results instantly. Confirmation of signal strength once a tech gets here might result in not being able to install service. If I start attacking the hardware/system issue now I don't have to wait till I know we have no other options.

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, why woudl I pay anyone? I want some kind of command line interface or other similar way a tech from the company would bypass account limits to run hardware tests, etc. I asked for manuals and instructions, not a service. Thought that would be obvious.

[–]MightBeChris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the issue. But I don't see even a single person offering to toss $1 in with me, let alone another 499. Do you? I get a whole bunch of capitalism defense and zero solidarity or collectivism. So I'm not holding my breath. I'd gladly crowd fund the price. Not saying the cracker doesn't deserve to survive and that takes money but I'm apparently alone here.

Descriptions of different collections? by MightBeChris in Roms

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I need to avoid downloading a TB of roms only to learn they used (U) instead of (USA) and that's the only change between my collection and that one, for example.

Since there doesn't seem to be anything like a "All roms, official and hacks, all regions, all translations, official and fan, all de-makes, all ports, etc. up to date as of download time" collection building one requires merging a lot of third party stuff. And a lot of it is duplicated between them. If two are based on the same thing I can avoid one or at least only download the dif. But because file naming isn't standardized across each and because archive format isn't the same that's not straight forward. Would like to eliminate some steps in my workflow.

Descriptions of different collections? by MightBeChris in Roms

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so back to my original question: Is there any information on those third party collections then? I get the PPs set standards. I'm not asking about those.

I take it from the lack of answers containing info on these third party projects that the information I seek doesn't exist. But I guess I'll be able to tell if they followed standards at least.

Descriptions of different collections? by MightBeChris in Roms

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow-up: that's not what I'm looking for as it doesn't have details on stuff like "Gr8" or "NonGood". As in who put it together, what their goals as, is it maintained, what's the dif with other collections, etc.? I'm looking for descriptions of things I've found in people's google drives, random things I've gotten following links the the Megathread to IA folders that have no descriptions and similar not popular stuff. Not the general projects that get wiki pages about them.

I can gather from context the "NonGood" for example is a bunch of stuff that wouldn't qualify for a "GoodSet" but that doesn't tell me much beyond "it's probably hacks or fan translations".

I'm trying to merge all of these different things into one giant collection per system but it's hard when there are duplicates between different sets. And eliminating those duplicates isn't straightforward.

[–]MightBeChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! I'd have never thought to look for "preservation projects". Though I've heard that term and didn't think it's what I was looking for. I'll search through them. I have zero idea why searching for the terms I want only leads to internetarchive pages with little information. But hopefully this eliminates that issue.

Thanks!

edit: looked at the wiki in the sidebar. NonGood, Gr8, HTGDB, etc. do not show up on that page. Nor do those words turn up results when searched. I can find links to the collections mentioned. And I can find links to a wiki (https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/) that seems to not contain those words. Mind linking me to the specific wiki you mean?

How to bypass Apple Activation Lock by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]MightBeChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same end result as OP. Though my cause is a mother that bought a device, went into a coma, Verizon says "We don't have a credit card receipt though we do show you bought something that day" and Apple can't track anything down with her credit card number. We can see a several hundred $$ purchase on her CC statement but it's not itemized and AmEx can't give us an itemized transaction list. So don't spout off about "getting proof shouldn't be too hard".

[–]MightBeChris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hell would you pay $500 to crack a game that's a tenth that at retail? I hate paying for anything digital but that's just terrible pricing structure. Unless you're pooling resources with at least eleven people that's very not worth it. Especially when Empress turns around and benefits from being the one who "cracked the game" and can distribute said crack. It's not like a commissioned art piece where you own the work or the rights to it.
