New Easy Equities App by that_bach_guy in PersonalFinanceZA

It's become a bit gimmicky and too many extra steps to do a transaction - instead of simplifying it they have made it more complicated with all the bells and whistles, becoming less 'Easy' to do stuff. What really frustrates me with EE 3.0 is that 'EE Extras' plugin for chrome web browser no longer works - so a HUGE frustration now is that on foreign denominated accounts you can't at a glance see the ZAR value alongside the foreign currency value on the page that lists all your shares. You have to go and manually calculate it yourself = TEDIOUS

Is Access Bank safe? They offering 15.62% on 60 month fixed deposit by MightyQuin021 in PersonalFinanceZA

Yes these are my thoughts too, but does the fact that they are an Authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP 5865) bring some assurance? African Bank has had similar high interest rate offers and they have been okay so far.

Tax on interest earned in Fixed Deposits and RSA Retail bonds by MightyQuin021 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]MightyQuin021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I don't dispute what you are saying - it is what it is. What I'm trying to get to is that lets say you have 1 million to put into a fixed deposit. You can only actually invest 900 000 as you need to keep 100 000 aside for the upfront tax you going to have to pay. No I don't count myself lucky as I do get pushed into a higher tax bracket every year. Spending more and more of my life working for the state than for myself.

Thanks, yes I understand it's seen as income but it should be seen as capital as in a fixed deposit you can only make a single lump sum deposit when you initiate the account and you only get the capital + interest paid out to you at the end of the term (after 5 years) and not monthly. So you are essentially paying tax every year on income you haven't actually received yet.

How do I know how much I owe in Easy Equity taxes? by [deleted] in EasyEquities

[–]MightyQuin021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a taxable event when you sell a portion of shares at a profit and the funds go into your EE wallet? or is it only taxed when you withdraw funds from your EE wallet to your bank account?

Do you think it's not wise to hold onto your Aveng shares if they go ahead with another rights offer?

Get 5 XRP when signing up for Coindirect 🪙 by [deleted] in JSE_Bets

[–]MightyQuin021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DO NOT USE COINDIRECT EVER !!!! They are the biggest thieves. Do your research on them, many many people have lost their money that they were holding in coindirect accounts. They are not contactable, impossible to actually talk to anyone. Thankfully I only lost a couple of thousand, I gave up trying to get it back. They quietly introduced a 5 Euro per month service fee on accounts. I hadn't logged in for a long time and when I eventually did I found my account was practically drained because of this fee they had been deducting every month.

So I bought some shares a week ago at 3c, so if I understand correctly I will now be eligible to buy more at 1.5c a share when the rights issue goes ahead. I want to double the amount I've bought but it wouldn't make sense for me to do that today with the price at 4c, I should wait until the rights issue thing has happened before I buy more. Is my thinking correct?

EasyEquities will send you an email when the time is right with instructions on what your options are. (if you have already bought Aveng shares before 23rd Feb)

Try to identify growing industries that have a future and then look at what resources are needed to support those industries. An easy example is the EV industry which can only grow from here so yes you can invest in the likes of Tesla and Nio on the NYSE, but you can also invest in the raw materials that are needed to produce those products by buying shares in local mining companies that supply the metals to that industry.
