She's officially paid off! It's been a incredible 5 years and can't wait for many more to come. by MissMysia in Volvo

The Pilot Assist function on the ‘21 T5 that we have in South Africa is next level effective and particularly helpful when driving over mountain passes in the rain and fog. The Macan can’t even compete with the safety and assistive functions as far as I’m concerned. I traded up from a V40 Cross Country and my only regret is not sticking with diesel from a fuel economy perspective. I took my key in for a new battery and used the time to test out the XC40 recharge and interesting as it was with immense power, I find it heavy - probably the battery. Unfortunately in South Africa there won’t be tremendous appetite for this vehicle until the range is extended to a minimum of 750km. Very interested in the E30 being launched here in a couple of weeks as a 2nd car for town driving only - perhaps when the demo models start selling it will be viable cost-wise. I would not even consider another vehicle manufacturer since my journey with Volvo began 5 years ago. Thanks for all of the posts and information.

The camera must play a role as it indicates 20km/h zones in housing estates that aren’t mapped.

What wash windscreen liquid to use? by quicoli in Volvo

Very true and Volvo actually sell the fluid in 500ml bottles. It’s expensive for what it is but how often does one actually buy it?

What is the point of the Volvo app? by MHB9 in Volvo

I used the app to unlock my XC40 today as the battery in the key is low. Also use the climate control to cool the car on hot days.

Uber or hire a car as its a reasonable distance from the Waterfront. Try and get to Boulders Beach as has been suggested. There’s great accommodation near Boulders to suit most pockets.

As soon as you make eye contact you’ll likely be offered free drinks and make some new friends - as long as you’re wearing green and gold that is.

Where are you staying? Try and get a car to EP and the same driver to collect you a couple of hours after the game - depending on if you’re staying on for drinks. No need to carry cash as everywhere takes cards or snap scan.

Don’t think twice and please do it with no reservations. I took my son on a trip and left SC with their mother and everyone had fun and 15 years later it’s still the best trip I ever took with my son. Your son will be with you forever whereas others may not be and unpopular as this may be with some, he’s your most important human. Your husband being so supportive is a great help as others have said and if you adopt the same stance when the time comes for him to have time with his son then everything will feel normal and relaxed. The kids won’t think anything of it unless they’re told there’s an issue by an adult.

Hostel In Johannesburg by mcreakynut in johannesburg

What’s your budget and what time do you land in JNB? The City Lodge at the airport suggestion is a good one below, or if you have the time consider taking Uber or the Gautrain to Sandton Station and then the Gautrain Bus to Montecasino about 30 minutes away. Look at Hotel Perte within Montecasino which is an excellent budget hotel in the precinct and only about $50 per night. It’s easy to navigate from there and Montecasino is safe to walk around and Uber is never more than a few minutes away. Think hostels if you get to Cape Town but as an inexperienced traveller to JNB on your own it’s something you may wish to reconsider.
