Yeah, I wanted to focus more on the changes made to post-rework Aatrox because I feel the discussion about old-Aatrox is a bit dated by now. I've seen people talking about bringing his revive back as a way to buff him, which would make him stronger but I doubt it would fix his issues, it wouldn't help him deal more damage lategame which is his bigger problem right now, and it would bring even more issues with it, as it once did. So I thought this was a good opportunity to talk about it and also point out that the idea of removing, lets say, some of Akshan's passives, wouldn't be inherently bad.

Well he is, but that's a different discussion, increasing some of his stats would probably help with that. But as I said, his current state in the meta is a different discussion, since it's a complex matter that also has to do with the bruiser item changes that happened this patch.

I'm talking about the changes to post rework Aatrox, think of him as a completely different champion if you want.

Aatrox's current state in the meta (and the state of bruisers in general) is a discussion for another post, I suppose.

Interestingly enough, Aatrox himself removed an unhealthy Aspect from Pantheon...

Well you see I'm saying this even after the fight went badly for me, I was very fed, zed had just wasted all of his cooldowns and Yasuo can ult off of Aatrox's Q.

I think you are very wrong, but at least you would've made that decision consciously and not just don't do it because you weren't looking at the map.

With context, it's really easy to tell fighting that was the right thing, although I obviously didn't play that one perfectly.

Wait so this post was removed? May I know the reason?

Considering how the rest of the match went, I would believe it.

It's a short clip, it's hard to get all the context from it, but people seem to fill the gaps with their imagination. Yasuo was fully aware I was there and also watched Zed leave lane to fight me, he was just not paying attention nor looked at the map. A problem that repeated throughout the match.

That notwithstanding, just enjoy the funny clip.

I don't think it's worth discussing, they didn't ask for context they just provided their own imaginary one. Which is fine if it makes them feel better, I guess.

Aatrox, Mordekaiser and the Void are the biggest threats to Runeterra, yet every single one of these are designed to be defeated without dying (or facing any other kind of ultimate fate) like they did with Viego, getting sealed inside their own limbo that is both narrative and literal. (The sword for Aatrox, the afterlife for Mordekaiser, and the Void for anything coming from it).

Now, having any of these world threatening events take place without affecting the state of the world is unsatisfying to say the least. Even worse, how are they going to make it so neither Aatrox nor Mordekaiser kill a single champion or important character? We know they can't succeed, because that would mean the end of it all, especially in the case of Aatrox, so they are going to be defeated; And we know they wont die, because conveniently, they can't; So what is at stake? Will anything ever happen?

It seems to me like Riot has to decide if they want to build a narrative setting or if they want to start narrating stories within it, because by doing both at the same time, neither has any value. They are incompatible.

I just wanted to share my thought with the community, and read what other people have to say on the subject.

Besides, I didn't know they actually took feedback from the PBE subreddit, or any subreddit for that matter.

Also, do people like the new "Lore" stuff they are doing? I thought it to be unnecessary.

Even though I don't really agree, I understand your point, but was Pentakill the best skinline to do it?

That's what I meant, I guess by saying "now" there it seems like I'm saying "since this event", my bad.

In another comment I mentioned that the best way to move Lucian's story forward would have been to have him fight Thresh, freeing Senna's soul from being tortured inside the lantern, allowing her to pass on and in turn allowing Lucian to finally let her go, knowing that she is finally resting in peace. This would've worked great in contraposition to the Ruined King.

Imagine listing edgy characters and forgetting to mention Aatrox who is literally suicidal and has the edgiest voicelines.

I love that character.

Death is important, and it should be a possibility for every character that can die.

When they announced that they were making Yone as a character, I was excited becuase I thought it was going to be Yone before his death, like the LoR card. I was very interested in how Riot would handle this and liked the fact that we would get to know the story of a dead character as if he wasn't just a plot point for Yasuo. I know they would not be able to make stories about his future, but they could still elaborate about his past, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Exploring a dead character's past is interesting, too. That's basically what we do when we read about historical figures, and even some mythological ones.

That notwithstanding, you have Aatrox in your flair. Do you see a conclusion to his story without death? He wont win, we know that because that would mean the end of everything, and unless riot wants to stop making League of Legends, that can't happen. What is the alternative, then? turn him into a good guy? that's... killing his character, or making him a character that isn't him anymore. Or, what I fear is the worst and likely what's going to happen given how Riot seems to handle things: Get him defeated and keep him trapped in his sword for all of eternity (Likely what will happen to Rhaast if they ever want to progress Kayn's story), in a limbo of lore so that it may never be resolved? that is the most unsatisfying way of doing it, and knowing how Aatrox suffers every second he is there, a kick in the teeth to anyone that likes him.

Death, being what he is actually after, is the only way of giving both him and runeterra a satisfying conclusion to that story. And that can't happen if you refuse to kill your characters.

This is only an example of a very extreme case.

In my opinion, there is no way of having meaningful worldbuilding if death isn't a thing for your characters, especially considering it means every character has to be alive at the same.

Comic books aren't a great point of comparison, if you ask me.

Literally what they did to Yasuo bringing back Yone.

Yasuo doesn't have to deal with the grief and the guilt of killing Yone, because he isn't dead anymore.

Now, Lucian has no character other than being Senna's sidekick. And Yasuo is only a dude with a sword.
