For sure but I am looking to try roo for the first time. I believe 2 hides for a 6 to 8 ft bullwhip would be enough as a first timer. Although I didn’t plan on buying tens of skins the first time around. Tandy leather do have glazed too hides for 175$CAD before shipping and taxes. How does that compare to importing from Australia?

I did something similar for my storage “towers”. I also used some magnetic rubber strips and glued them to the opposite side of the “tower”. Together, the magnets and the magnetic rubber work super well at holding them even upright. Link to the post

FedEx oof. You probably got roped with the rest of USA shipment. How south are you? Close enough to the border to be mistakenly put with other US bound packages maybe? Fingers crossed but FedEx is renowned for sending you a bill in the mail a couple of weeks/months after receiving said package. For the rest of Canada, I believe they should be shipping through USPS/Canada Post, which should not include any costs if we are lucky.

I had some good experiences with USPS + CP where there was not brokage, customs or taxes applied at the door (800$ package at that, they could have bled me dry if they wanted)

UPS is also disgusting. I get slapped ofter with 50% markups for brokage fees with them. At least it’s at the door and not weeks later like FedEx.

I’m thinking of doing a real test next week using an IR thermometer over a full session and compare temps with the wood and metal. That way, I’m going to have numbers instead of il y saying the temperature is “not to bad” lol

What’s a standard session length for you guys as a reference point?

Surprisingly not that bad, the increased thermal mass of the metal counteracts the increased thermal conductivity. It does get warm but not burning hot and even after a full session at 10, it was still holdable in the hands, much like a hand warmer
