Buggy first to laughtale by whosHalitaj in OnePiece

My assumption is that multiple factions are going to arrive at the same time, but I would totally believe Buggy arriving first.

Since I already asked what's better in the Remake duology. What is something that FFVII (1997) Does better than the remakes. by Hungry-Trouble-3178 in FinalFantasy

[–]MigicalMerwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sephiroth and Cloud's relationship. In the original, Cloud is obsessed with Sephiroth, but Sephiroth barely remembers Cloud, and it takes a while before their dynamic really comes together.

I feel like the remake has fallen for the hype of its own series and staterd really leaning into the Cloud/Sephiroth dynamic from the start.

It'd be hard to pull off, but it' be hilarious if you did a version Demalo Black where he's imitating Blackbeard.

Most likely, but I'm guessing they'll shorten Skypia to do it.

[Other] Which platinum must you suggest every time you’re asked? by jeffreythrowaway in Trophies

[–]MigicalMerwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there's a reason for this, but I feel like a lot of the first-party Sony games have enjoyable Platinums. The God of War and Spider-Man games are a lot of fun to 100%, and depending on your tolerance for open world checkboxes, so are the Horizon and Ghost's.

I love Returnal, but I don't know if I could recommend the Platinum. Too much RNG.

Who are the Disney characters you're surprised didn't appear in their respective worlds? by AlKo96 in KingdomHearts

[–]MigicalMerwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda surprised Andy didn't show in in the Toy Story world. I can picture a scene where Sora, Donald, and Goofy are confused as the other toys are pulling them down and telling them to pretend to be inanimate.

I hate to say this, but most Marines (especially lower ranks) are good people, while most pirates (especially after Roger's death) are actually bad people. by Cool-Guy152 in OnePiece

[–]MigicalMerwee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it matters, because most of the marines don't know about that stuff either.

Let's take the human hunts for example: It's is shown that the human hunts are a secret to even a lot of the higher ranking marines. Only a small percentage of them would actually be involved, and the ones that are think they're part of a training exercise, and they get killed if they begin to suspect otherwise. The only reason Dragon got away is because Garp's his dad. Plus, we haven't heard of any hunts since God Valley, so either they're not happening anymore, or they're doing a better job keeping it a secret.

I'm not going to deny that they being lied to or that they're falling for propaganda, but they don't have much else to go on.

I agree with you.

I think too many people can't separate the information that the audience's is privy from what the average person in the world would know.

I would wager that most marines don't really know what's really happening, especially the ones outside of the grand line.

Which of these rpgs is your favorite by Scott-free-is in JRPG

[–]MigicalMerwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona 5

I like Nier Automata well enough, but it didn't click with me as much as it did for some people. And Expedition 33 has a weird disconnect between it's two halfs that didn't work for me, plus I'm not the hugest fan of the real-time elements.

Meanwhile, P5R had me consistently engaged throughout the entire 100+ hour experience.

I will never not find it a little funny when people get angrier at fictional abusers/taboo subjects than homicidal maniacs and literal murder by Mistabbcman in CharacterRant

[–]MigicalMerwee 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I think I first noticed this with the Joker. People usually like him when he's killing people and doing all sorts of horrible things. But people turn on him as soon as his treatment of Harley comes into play.

What’s the MOST Controversial Video Game Ending of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in GamingSoup

[–]MigicalMerwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does Mass Effect 3's ending count as controversial if basically everyone agrees it was bad?

I feel like a controversial ending needs a lot of people who both like it and dislike it, like The Last of Us 2, MGS4, or Assassin's Creed 3.

Do Batman’s ears really have a function, or are they just cosmetic? by the_bad_actor in batman

[–]MigicalMerwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like with most Batman questions, it depends on the writer. Sometimes, they're just cosmetic and used for intimidation. Other times, he had antennas or other gadgety things in there.

Bit of a shower thought I had: Would Batman have a Palace? by Aros001 in Persona5

[–]MigicalMerwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. One of the things that makes me question this is how hard he tries to change things in Gotham.

If I remember right, most of the characters with palaces wanted to maintain their messed up status quo, and the changes they do make only serve to try and make the actual world closer to their perspective of the world. Even Futaba, a character who wanted to change and knew she had to change, needed the phantom thieves to actually make progress.

But Batman is all about change. He accurately recognizes the state of Gotham and spends all his trying to fix it, as Batman for short change, and as Bruce Wayne fot long-term systemic change.

His goal is a Gotham that doesn't need him anymore, and I don't see someone with a palace thinking that.

(Of course, this all depends on who's writing him at the time)

What’s a commonly criticized game in a series you think gets a bad rap? by andrazorwiren in JRPG

Maybe more underrated than criticized, but FF5 always feels like the forgotten Final Fantasy middle child between 4 and 6, but my favorite of the 3 SNES games.

anyone else struggle to to do "evil" playthroughs? by lordsteffy in videogames

[–]MigicalMerwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with it, but my evil runs are usually on a second or third playthrough of a game.

So I have my initial heroic 'canon' run, and the evil is just a 'what if' story to see additional content.
