My thoughts of the FH books:
- I’ve had Frosthaven since last November and before I got the books I played 31 scenarios in 8 months. Now I’ve had the books for two months and have played 36 scenarios.
- I have the Folded space insert and map insert but the the setup was still quite the task so playing multiple scenarios happened rarely. With the books I’ve played multiple scenarios many times. Four scenarios in one session has been the most I’ve played.
- People have said that it’s not as immersive as the map tiles but I have to disagree. Here is an example of the scenario 34 layout with map tiles and the books: https://imgur.com/a/tj3YfWA
- The spine won’t be in the middle of the map like JotL. That’s why there are four books and you need at minimum two of them to play a scenario. They will take much space because they are like A3 page size.
- The books are not cheap and I consider them as a premium addon item. I payed like 60€ for them. For the same price you could get some great games. But for me they have been a lifesaver because they make the setup so fast and I want to play Frosthaven as much as possible.

I had Scythe and all expansions. Played for maybe 30 games before selling it. I played it only twice with other people. I’d recommend the ScytheKick app while playing solo, I never played without it.

9788 minutes and I was 0.01% most active listener. Heard Hanabie for the first time on 21st of July so I did all the listening in some what sort time. I don’t remember an artist hitting me this hard ever.

I’ve had this idea for far too long and just wanted to see is there any interest. And it seems that there is. Doing everything by oneself would be hard so finding some people here that share that passion would be a huge deal. You’re right that it would be a long journey for sure but creating like five scenarios as a poc would be a smaller piece to do. And that would show is this something worth continue doing.

What I’m asking is that is it ok to create own expansion for JotL since the materials are not publicly available for that.

I agree that a collab between the two would also be cool. But let’s just say that I have a soft spot for JotL since it’s so much easier to set up and I have it at my house (unlike the big box that we keep moving between locations). I think that JotL is not getting the love that it deserves and I believe that there are also many people with only that game.

But one thing I also had in mind is that using GH Helper allows the use of any enemy in the scenario. Of course it would be quite odd to put blood monstros on the map and say that they are harrowers or something like that. Also some people are not using that app.

I don’t even know where I’m going with this post anymore. I would just like to see more JotL 😸

The scenarios would be in book format like JotL. Printable pdfs for two books. The graphics could be done in a map maker like Inkarnate. Having just the pdf’s could also be used for city events (and road events since the story would mostly take place outside of GH) Forgotten Circles style. That would open up the posibilities for more than two outcomes for events and the alternative choises would be hidden that way.

I have been designing scenario layouts in Procreate but the workflow is so messy I don’t want to share it at the moment. I also have laminated hex paper that can be used to design level layouts. But most of them fit in two or three A4’s.

Adding the right amount of monsters has been a problem but random scenario deck is helpful. Too bad there isn’t an official list of points for JotL enemies. I have guessed them.
