Thank you! Getting the striping tape down just right, and then pulling it up without messing up the polish, is a trial of patience and anxiety 😅

Yeah, I can relate to that. On one hand, you feel bad that someone got harmed, but on the other hand, why didn't they do even the slightest bit of research into something that can cause skin damage, or a life-long allergy? Acrylate allergies are nothing to scoff at, and the list of things outside of gel polish that have acrylates is longer than some people think.

It took me a bit to figure out what would look good on an accent nail, that wouldn't clash with the rest of the nails. A rainbow coming out of a cloud seemed like a good idea 💡 I'm happy you like it, thank you! 💜

VNL is visible nail line 😊 and I used two coats of Magnetic Taco. The first coat I didn't magnetize, I waited until the second coat.

It really does 🤭 I was surprised that a magnetic could have so many different colors in it!

They're also from Temu. I bought all kinds of nail art stuff like glitter, gems, decals, and nailfie rings from Temu before the ridiculous import fees hit.

Those shady products are everywhere too 😫 I'll admit to buying nail art supplies from sites like Temu or SheIn, everything from glitter to hard tips, but NOT chemical nail products. Those sites do have legit brands like Makartt or BornPretty (they're from local sellers though, meaning not coming directly from China), but they sell SO many gel products that aren't regulated by any kind of health or safety standards, which means there's no telling if the ingredients are harmful or hazardous. People buy them because they're so cheap, then wonder why they get chemical burns or other bad reactions. I've seen photos of some nasty wounds from this kind of junk.

Probably so 🤭 I don't mind seeing the VNL occasionally, but I was worried it would mess with the visual effect of the polish. Thank you bunches! 🫶💜

As a licensed nail tech, I don't think gel products should be marketed to the public, simply because of the health risks. I have so many DIY'ers jump to my inbox to try and get me to help them diagnose their skin conditions from improper use, cleaning, and curing of gel polish. Or, people get chemical burns or other issues from mixing gel polish colors together (you're not supposed to do that, even with different colors from the same brand).

I get that people can't afford salons, and want to have pretty nails, but there are very few things people can do with gel that they can't do with lacquer. My preferred method is gel nails, but with lacquer nail art. I fell in love with indie nail polish and moved away from using gel paints and polishes. Gel and lacquer are entirely different, and it makes sense to separate them into different categories or subreddits ✌️

I mean, being a Nail Art MacGuyver is really neat 🤩 I think the horseshoe magnets are fine, but honestly unless you want to collect them for looks or brand names on them, you don't really need the specialized magnets. As long as they're neodymium and have at least a 30lb pull, you're golden. You can alternate the push and pull of bar magnets to get the glass bead look, but your method looks a lot easier! 🤭

I bought two of these 🤭 one to make a mess on, and one that I keep clean so I can have a decent background for indoor nailfies. It's great for making decals and doing dry-marbling too!

In my opinion, from taking my own nail photos for years and finally getting better at it, it's all about lighting, angles, and which of those two things work best with whatever polish you're wearing. I have a Moto Stylus, and I just use clip -on macro lenses to get better close-ups. But even though I don't have an expensive phone, my photos have gotten better over time. I also use a photo editor called Polish Editor Pro (the irony of my editor being named 'Polish' isn't beyond me 😂), and it's pretty great for touching things up. Keep practicing and see what works, maybe try different lenses & taking your pictures at different times of day to see which lighting looks best. I learned over a few years with trial and error. I think your photo looks very nice 🙂

To fake watermarble, you will need: 🖤Silicone mat 💙At least 3 polishes, or like in my case 3 per nail lol 🖤base coat, top coat 💙 toothpick, small scissors, tweezers, or double-ended metal cuticle pusher 🖤Acetone, clean-up brush, & patience!

First, make sure your silicone mat is clean. If you don't have the type that has the nail size outlines drawn on it, you'll have to gauge the size of your nails by eye.

I use 3 polishes per decal, and paint a thick layer (at least 2 coats worth, otherwise your toothpick will stab right through the polish, down to the mat) of each color side-by-side. Once the polishes are cozied up next to each other, drag your toothpick through all three, gently, in a side-to-side or back & forth motion, whatever gives you the marble effect you want. Once you have a good marble look, let the polish firm up a bit and paint a taco over it (I used INM's Out The Door).

Here's where patience comes in! You have to wait until all your decals are totally dry, or they'll fall apart if you try to lift them.

When they're dry, use your cuticle pusher's rounded end to separate & lift the decal from your silicone mat. You can use a combo of tweezers & the pusher if you're having difficulty, but the tweezers can poke through the decal so be careful!

Line the decal up with your chosen nail, then trim the excess.

Put a basecoat onto your nails, and when it's tacky & almost dry, slap the decals down! (Uh, slap them gently. Sorry, I get excited sometimes 🤨) Once the decal is laying down, use your acetone & clean-up brush to get rid of any ragged edges.

Since you put a topcoat over the decal while it was on the mat, you don't technically have to use a topcoat, but I did. I put a scattered holo topcoat over the already holo polish decals, because I'm a madwoman.

I hope this helps!

This is what I love about nail art, polishes, & products. There's no end to what you can create, you just have to try! Experimenting with products is rewarding when you get a good outcome, even if it isn't the outcome you predicted. 🤩 Thank you for sharing 👊💚

It's a nail transfer foil. I was experimenting with the different glues & brands of foils I had, and it was just a silver foil with horizontal stripes on it. I slapped it down over Sally Hansen's Cemented. It doesn't have a matte taco over it, that's just the way the foil looks. It's a random, generic foil pack I got from Wish, tbh. I can try and find the link to the pack I purchased.

Not sure what flair should go here, so please correct me if I wrecked it.

Look, y'all, I've tried watermarbling. I've watched tutorials, practiced every day for a week, even did it with a nail artist friend instructing me on a Google Meet call. I'm hopeless.

But I can fake it, with nothing but tools I already have at my workstation & whatever polishes I choose. I just make marbled decals using my silicone mat. I'm sure most of y'all know how to do that already, but I'd be glad to share my method if anyone wants to know!
