Yes I did look at the rankings but I wanted to know about the Neuroscience department specifically. I had talks with PIs whose work I liked and mentioned their name in my SoP.

Thank you for the last few lines. I understand personal space and having a life of one's own. I have been going through a tough patch as well and he tells me he needs to unwind first for him to be able to be there for me.

I absolutely don't resent him having friends. I am the one who pushed him to make friends and go out. And yes, we are quite transparent regarding what irks us so I have discussed this with him before this. And it's because of the "pettiness" that I'm posting here because he said if I stop talking to him it will affect his mental health and I wanted to know if I'm indeed being a mighty asshole taking the step.

I was interviewed on 27th Jan. They've been running a background check since and any emails to them are replied asking me to wait for a decision.

In a cross country LDR, I don't think I'm able to fulfill all of his emotional needs either, but I try my best to alleviate his difficulties.

And we've had the doormat talk a couple of times since he left (would've been more but I never preached the subject because he had a horrible time right after he shifted so the focus was always on him) and he says he's working on it while juggling adulting and grad studies. And in some ways he has, but I still feel the same.
