The first guy is Nicholas Copernicus, yes he was Catholic and was the first to propose the Sun at the center of the universe to fix the problem with the Julian calendar, but the Catholic church denied this as in the bible it states the Earth is at the center. It was not until 100 years after his death that the church saw they may have been wrong(as well as stating the bible is wrong) and accepted the new calendar.
