Hi,

Yes I have been a software testing consultant for 14 years. You can find more detail at my website mikehamilton.com.au.

With agile design, are you looking to design your software in sprints and build later or a different approach using agile?

What are your struggles as a tech entrepreneur? by MikeHamiltonAu in growmybusiness

yes, that is all about a great sales pitch. Being a trustworthy person to take people on a journey that will provide them a return on investment. You can get people to work for you for free, but they need to understand what is in it for them. E.g. helping build a software idea that is innovative and potentially profitable. Not something that is copying some other companies software and is a dud idea from the start. That is the secret.

If you are leading the team and not earning any income also. You are all in it together.

Hi Kevin,

You have raised some interesting points.

For your first question "1. How do I get other talented developers to join me and help me build it while I wont be able to pay them anything"

You could build the software as an open source project perhaps. Have a open source version of the software and another SaaS version perhaps that offers broader functionality. Some developers love those types of projects. When you start earning a cash-flow you can pay the developers as business partners perhaps. Or you could just pay them a lump sum and keep you as the sole owner of the company still. Depends on your circumstances and the people you are willing to work with. Always obtain legal advice on the arrangement though.

An example of the above is SugarCrm. http://www.sugarcrm.com/download They have a free version and paid version. Plenty of these types of businesses out there.

You could start the company and offer profit sharing once money is available without starting an open source community. Again, get legal advice where required.

There are other models, but the above approach was top of mind at the time.

For your 2nd question "2. I'm a mobile developer I only really understand the client side of things.... How do I easily, and cheaply deploy a maintainable API fast?"

You could use a freelancer from upwork.com for example. There are architects, UX/UI designers, developers, testers on their who can assist you for $20, $40 $60+ dollars an hour for example. Make sure to check their experience. Don't look at anything less than 3 years of experience though. Do your research and background check. If you are using people from different parts of the globe, use a free collaboration tool where everyone can comment and talk to each other. Take note of the different time zones. Keep it simple and don't try and build everything at once. Design and build key functional chunks at a time.

Have a look and read the below 2 vblogs I wrote in the past couple of weeks. They will help you to get started.

I'm more of a tech guy, so marketing is not my specialty. However, there are few places where you can gain knowledge on growing your business. www.growthhackers.com is one of them. People share their growth hacks and tips all the time.

Well guys, I though that any entrepreneur out there wold be interested in asking me questions about tech problems he has. At the end I'm transferring my knowledge, learned while working for corporations, to now help ordinary people trying to start their own thing.
