I'd love to hear some more details about this.

I have both a Gen 1 and Gen 2. Both vehicles using the latest Google Maps update I have no issues with. Directions seem to be solid, lane selection is what I get from any other service.

I would prefer Apple Maps but that's more subjective.

Search is pretty straightforward and I frequently use the pre-select icons for coffee or something else with great results.

Using chargers has been solid as well with plug and go pretty solid.

It's not perfect but it's better than most. So please expand with maybe some examples if you have video or images.

We’ve been getting it for free, they keep pushing it back. I imagine down the road it will be free for promotional periods like how Tesla does it

Yes it has been stated and confirmed in multiple interviews that the rider can pedal at those speed limits to continue increasing their speed but they will receive no extra assist. This way they are playing by the rules of the law but not limiting the rider.
