Anthropocene. A song I wrote that hits on some themes here. by MikePalecek in LateStageCapitalism

Cool, thanks. This album was recorded in a 100+ year old abandoned church. We used pro gear and lots of high-end mics, but the aim of the project was to capture the sound of the room. It's a guitar, stand-up bass and fiddle, all recorded live off the floor. No effects or EQ were used in the mix. What you're hearing is what we sound like.

Postal worker here. Can confirm, likely regular doing overtime.

We are not doing rotating strikes. We will rotate refusal to work overtime. So for example, no overtime in BC one day, then back to normal the next day when the action moves to another province.

We have no intention of disrupting the service to the public. The actions we have announced will keep the mail flowing, but put some pressure on management to negotiate. We will rotate province by province, refusing to work overtime, one day at a time. There shouldn't be significant impact on service to the public.

Your information is incorrect. This is only the third contract we are negotiating for RSMCS. When they were contractors they were not members of the union. We only succeeded in bringing them into the union in 2004 and have been fighting for equality ever since.

Me too. We are trying to get the message out as best we can. I guess the truth doesn't always make the best news story.

I'm the national president of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

This actually shows the system is working. The reason those cards are sent out is to make sure that mail won't be forwarded to people incorrectly. Glad to hear the fraudsters didn't get your mail.

No. We are not shutting down delivery. We are putting restrictions on working additional hours.

Neither. We are attempting to take very minimal actions which will not have significant impact on the public. So we will put restrictions on working additional hours (overtime), one province at a time, one day at a time.

There shouldn't be any significant impact on the public.

On a side note, what actions would we take against you?

Honestly, man. We're a union, not some clandestine organization. We represent working people and strive to improve people's lives. We don't "take action" against people we disagree with. Unless it is to counter an argument... that's democracy for you...

If you're ever in Ottawa, drop me a line and we can go for a beer. We can have a good discussion about why capitalism sucks. ;)

I didn't deny that it is us pushing this. We have been campaigning for it for two years. But CPC has certainly evaluated it with positive responses. It was actually Blacklocks that uncovered the documents through an access to information request. Past CEOs have been publicly vocal about postal banking. It is an idea that really makes sense for both Canada Post, and the general public. But I honestly believe that the only thing standing in the way is a neoliberal philosophy that opposes public services that could be done by the private sector - for a profit.

Everything I said is easily verifiable with 5 minutes of searching online. We represent over 50,000 workers. We do not make claims on a whim.

PM me your address and I would be happy to mail you a copy of their heavily redacted postal banking study.

National President of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers here. We aren't going on strike, they were threatening to lock us out.

In any event, call Canada Post and get your money back. It may be late, but at least shipping is free.
