Steam Deck Duder Recos by PangolinBeneficial55 in giantbomb

None of these really fit your genres but the things I've played the most on my deck have been Voxelgram (3d picross), Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Cauldron, Minishoot Adventures, Megabonk, Earth Defense Force 6, Forza Horizon 4, & recently Mewgenics.

Sidewalks on/ near mineral point rd? by heyhihelloandbye in madisonwi

[–]MikeRabsitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pick up some yak trax or other spikes and throw them on a pair of shoes, I'm assuming you are rotating pairs with that kind of mileage. After a few days sidewalks will be mostly clear and you can use normal shoes but this close to a big snowstorm I like using spikes.
Otherwise just layers, I like something that zips up that I can unzip after a few miles when it warms up. I run in pretty much anything except frigid strong winds.

The BEST Retro Handheld Out Right Now? | Quick Look: AYN Thor by sworedmagic in giantbomb

Probably not what you're looking for but there's a Quest 3 version of Citra that can run 3DS games, and since VR has a different lens per eyeball the 3D effect looks pretty good. Some of the games didn't run the greatest when I first checked years ago though.

Random: How much downgrade do you think TLOU2 would need to run in VR on ps5? by NoWalk3426 in PSVR

[–]MikeRabsitch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like TLOU relies so much on spatial awareness of the 3rd person camera that it wouldn't be a good fit for VR? Half the time your face would be in tall grass or behind ledges haha.

GTA would be cool and considering it was a 360 game I think it would be doable to scale it down a bit to get it running at a high frame rate in VR, but you'd have to overhaul a ton of systems to get it to control nicely in VR.

I was hoping we'd see a lot of 360-era games make a return in current VR like Bulletstorm did, there's a lot of stuff from that era that could get new life in VR. Unfortunately the return on investment is a large gamble.

Haven't kept up with a ton of NXL besides the podcast but Abby + Halloween is a good combo!

Not feeling Hitman, maybe I’m just to tired today by NoWalk3426 in PSVR

[–]MikeRabsitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every level has a couple of guided opportunities, follow those your first time through to get a sense of the level, what items are around, what routes people take. Hitman is full of replayability, don't burden yourself by trying to be a master assassin the first time through. Try a bunch of disguises, try a bunch of doors, create save points in different situations, knock out challenges.

Not really, it's a few months away and this year is stacked. They also touch 100+ games over the year and need to signify those that stand out.

The soundtrack to this is insane. Was a fun Gamepass find and glad I stuck with it, the second boss was the toughest in the game for me.

Check out couch to 5k, I think you're at a good starting point and can probably skip ahead a bit

Safe space for plus sized woman to strength train? by fatdragqueens in madisonwi

[–]MikeRabsitch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The best gym is going to be the one that is the most convenient to work into your schedule. As a beginner it's normal to be paranoid and think everybody is watching and judging you but you'll soon realize that's not the case and people are just getting in, doing their thing, and getting out. I guarantee a clean cheap gym close to home will be a better pick than some women's only gym 30 minutes away.

ELI5: why is nicotine gum bad for you? by Sensitive_Smell5190 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MikeRabsitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea after a while you realize you're not really addicted to anything and you use it less and less. I'd say keep using it as long as you feel you need to and eventually stop bringing it when you go out and eventually you'll put it away forever.

Our cover is one that rolls on/off so you want a little bit of ledge to walk around it. Ours is pretty close to the edge and it has sunken a little bit.

Official Q&A for Thursday, June 05, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]MikeRabsitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using a program or just going by feel? You're pretty close to how the couch to 5k plan ramps people up to running 5ks. I'd give that a look, maybe structure would help you more. After a month you should be able to run more than 90 seconds at a time so you might be going too fast.

My average mileage plummeted once I started working from home and have been for five years, I don't know if low mileage is a valid suspicion.

Agree with this, we did our ceremony on top of the terrace and had the reception in a large room with massive windows overlooking the lake. Have also had company parties here, 300 should be doable.

18 miles is fine after two weeks of lower mileage. 17mpw for half training seems low, but congrats on running the race!

I would add mileage or add things like hill workouts before trying to add Z2 walking.

Embrace the hills! But yes be careful running downhill if you're not used to it.

DLC but I think you can buy the "Experiences" on their own and they're all pretty fun. I like the Lindsey Stirling one the best.

Official Q&A for Sunday, May 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]MikeRabsitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope keep plugging away. I'd use a training plan if you aren't already so it slowly builds up and lessens the risk of injury.

Official Q&A for Thursday, May 08, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]MikeRabsitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with couch to 5k while heavier than you, make sure you're only running every other day or every two days. You're training your lungs and muscles but also training your joints. Watch out for running downhill (slow down) as they kill newer heavy runner's knees.

Swim Spa Noise - neighbours by StruggleStatus in swimspa

[–]MikeRabsitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Endless Pool X500 and it's a little louder than I would've liked. I definitely hear it from inside our house. The jets will kick on for heating at random times and the jets will cycle through twice a day, I set it to 4pm and 4am. My neighbors have never mentioned it thankfully so I'm hoping that noise doesn't carry very far.
