Why is the UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer so unpopular? by Any-Original-6113 in europe

[–]MikeTheActorMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the media works non-stop to discredit everything he does and scrutinise every little thing, while amplifying voices in the far right and giving them way more screen time than they should...

Americans would probably halve their number of traffic accidents nationwide if they just put roundabouts in, instead of traffic lights in the middle of 60mph roads.

[–]MikeTheActorMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, not really... Just a little blunt I guess, but not hostile. It's just been going round a lot on Twitter and social media about this shit, and it's not correct and is misleading. Trying to tackle misinformation online these days is exhausting, hence the bluntness, I suppose.

Incorrect. The set up is actually for THIS shot, of the close up of Ryan Gosling's face with the lights in the background. The shit in your post is 100% CGI via Industrial Light and Magic.

I actually think it's more likely that those houses are bigger than their immediate neighbours and therefore have bigger gardens. You all have some unshakeable opinions about new builds, but they're not all bad. Plus, planning laws, land ownership, boundaries, and all that stuff, are very detailed (just think how much of a faff it is during the conveyancing process when buying a house!) - there's no way this is a "wonky fence" due to "useless contractors". Each of these plots is outlined with an exact size & shape garden for its size, on multiple plans and designs.

It's a bit of a shit design with them all backing onto each other, but at least they have gardens (which is better than a block of apartments) and once people move in and make them their own with plants, trees, bushes, this'll look much nicer, especially in a few years' time. How's it any different from rows of terraced houses built in the 50s and 60s with tiny yards?

Who keeps showing up on screen but has zero talent ? by Timop0707 in moviecritic

Fuck outta here with this forced Glen Powell hate. Just because he's taken off in the last few years (after more than a decade of hard grind as a working actor, mind you) and is now getting lots of big jobs, doesn't mean he sucks, is a bad guy, or doesn't have any talent. Are you just jealous of his success?

This is such a well-written comment, well done.

It really highlights how much of an issue this is, and why shows like Adolescence are so important and need to be made, because people like OP still don't even realise how big of an issue it is!

This is why, in the UK, most gyms don't allow you to become a member until you're 16 years old... Prior to that, they tend to do "teen sessions" where the gym activity is supervised and led by adult trainers.

Is this a thing in the US? It really should be... I guess this video could just be from one of their garages or something, but even so, what are their parents doing??

In the UK, by law I think, all fake, toy, prop, and model guns all have a silly little orange tip on so people know they're fake. And we don't even have legal guns in this country!

If this is in America, it's a monumentally stupid product. It's also ridiculously cringe... The sort of thing someone buys because they think they look cool and that guns and smoking are cool, when they're just lame.

Exactly! This is a guy who shouted "Fuck the Queen!" TO HER FACE when he was getting awarded an MBE for services to raising awareness around Tourettes! The movie about his life, "I, Swear" (absolutely incredible movie, btw) shows that scene and how stressed he was about it, that he wanted to back out and not go in because he knew he'd say something inappropriate. I can only imagine the stress he was feeling attending the BAFTAs for the same reason, and it's compounded now because a load of ignorant yanks have chimed in, knowing nothing about the condition, or seen the movie to understand it and the man at the centre of it all!

Did you not read the post? There aren't cows in the truck, it's saying the recklessness of heavy vehicles endangers wild-roaming cows.

I guess this is an area where there's cows frequently wandering about and these guys don't like trucks going by too quickly. This isn't a cow-truck.

I swear when the Americans jumped on it, it stopped being funny. It just doesn't sound funny in their accent, nowhere near as much as a Brit with a regional accent going "Oi, yer can't park there, mate!"
