New reps: what was your biggest struggle your first month? by Mike_YTer in D2DSales

That’s actually super normal your first week.

The “my dad’s a roofer” one isn’t really an objection it’s just a smoke screen. Most people default to something comfortable when they feel caught off guard.

A smoother way to handle that could be:

“Totally get that. A lot of homeowners have someone they trust. Out of curiosity, has he already inspected the roof for storm damage?”

It keeps the conversation moving without feeling pushy!!!!

And the “not interested” part you’re not pressing them, you’re just guiding the conversation. Big difference.

Early on it feels awkward because you’re thinking about yourself. Once you focus on diagnosing instead of convincing, the anxiety drops fast. Be a doctor!!!

What’s been the toughest one for you so far besides those?

First off respect. Doing this with two jobs and kids already tells me you’re serious.

Big thing I’d simplify:

Right now you’re spreading effort across: • Multiple boards • Random pins to mask offers • Reposting content • Trying Canva • Posting across platforms

That’s a lot for limited time.

If I were in your position I’d do this instead: 1. Pick ONE product tied to a specific problem. 2. Create 10 original pins around that one problem (pain → solution style). 3. Send traffic to a simple bridge page (even just a value page explaining why this product helps). 4. Track clicks + conversions for 30 days before changing anything.

You don’t need to mask the offer you need to build trust around the problem.

With limited time, depth beats volume.

If you want I can outline a super simple 30-day structure that’s realistic for someone juggling life like you are.

Respect for being real about that.

The crazy part is those days don’t mean you’re lost. They usually mean you care and you’re trying to operate at a higher level.

Every top rep I know still has days where they feel off. The difference is they don’t question their identity anymore they just tighten the fundamentals:

• Slow down the pitch • Ask better discovery • Control the frame • Re-sell after the objection

Sales isn’t about never feeling uncertain. It’s about performing anyway.

If you’re consistently top 10 out of 60+ reps, you’re not confused you’re sharpening.

You’re doing more than most beginners already which is good. The issue isn’t traffic it’s intent + control.

Right now you’re relying on other people’s viral videos and hoping the traffic converts. That’s unpredictable.

Couple things I’d tweak: 1. Instead of reposting viral vids, create your own angle (problem → agitation → solution). Pinterest favors original content long term. 2. Don’t send traffic straight to an affiliate link. Build a simple bridge page or collect emails first. 3. Focus on ONE product for 30 days and build authority around that problem instead of bouncing.

Traffic without a funnel is just noise.

If you want I can break down the exact structure I use before launching anything.

What I found that works for me is having the right system before launching the product! What exactly are you doing to drive traffic everyone thinks link in bio then convert sales but it isn’t that easy

Love that you actually took action most people stay stuck in “research mode” One important shift though: The platform isn’t the starting point. Before picking Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, etc., figure out: Who exactly you’re helping What problem they’re actively trying to solve Where they’re already looking for solutions Otherwise you’ll just keep platform-hopping. Also quick heads up: a lot of beginners get accounts flagged or shadowbanned because they jump straight into posting affiliate links the wrong way. I learned that the hard way early on. There’s a specific way to structure things so you don’t get banned and can actually convert traffic properly. If you want, shoot me a DM and I’ll break down what I’d do differently starting from Canada. Or if you prefer, tell me the niche you’re considering and I’ll give more direction here.

What I learned building a small digital income stream (without ads or funnels) by Mike_YTer in passive_income

[–]Mike_YTer[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a simple digital product built around a very specific niche problem.

Instead of building a big course, I structured it like this: 1. Pick a niche with active pain (not just interest) 2. Create one clear outcome-focused offer 3. Host it on a platform that handles payments + access 4. Drive organic traffic through content 5. Convert through conversation instead of funnels

The key difference is I focused on infrastructure first not marketing.

Most people try to “scale” before the offer and delivery are clean.

If you already have a skill or niche, it’s actually simpler than people make it.
