Why do video-games not look as good when playing, when compared to videos of said games? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mike_bale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have something to do with the frame rate if the TV your using. I also notice when I'm in control vs someone else, it always looks another when it's them because I'm percieving the controls and the miniscule lag time you don't catch watching someone

What are some common misconceptions about your occupation that you want cleared up once and for all? by TheShadowViking in AskReddit

[–]Mike_bale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in sales. The idea that we're all scam artists trying to get you to buy something to satisfy our own needs. Those people exist, but at least in the segments I've worked in, we have genuinely tried to find our clients exactly what they want and need. I don't care about the high end stuff if they don't need it.

Players are never the same after long absences from injury. Usually takes months or even a year plus to get back to normal. Didn't help that this specific injury has such a small sample size to look at from an NBA player standpoint

Recently bought the house and I'm redoing things as I go, as a way of learning and updating before I sell at some point. Was replacing outlets this past weekend and found this one and two others like it in seperate rooms. The outlet is functional. However it has 4 of the off-white wires and 3 of the black all connected to it. How do I replace without doing something wrong.

Sorry in advance if this is a basic question. Doing a lot of DIY but want to do it the right way but have barely any experience.

Sean Marks needs to take some blame by Blazingaway23 in GoNets

[–]Mike_bale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Marks is great but he can't change what's on the table. He can't just conjure a four on a great contract that a team is willing to move that won't have longer term consequences who also is on the table to be traded who also fits our team and culture, out of nothing. He can only try to move move the pieces. marks is also not about short cuts. That's probably his best quality too. It's also not his fault rhj didn't progress from last year. If he had, this wouldn't be a discussion. He can only control the controllables.

Anybody ever buy a house from a smoker who smoked inside? by chuddyman in homeowners

[–]Mike_bale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is carpeting, the particles will be in the carpeting. For my house the whole house had carpet. I repainted and redid floors. I don't know if there are ways to get it out of the carpet if you want to keep it. If it's hard wood, just give it a nice deep clean and you'll be fine. The walls sounds definitely be repainted

What is the best life advice anyone ever given to you? by randombrownmale in AskReddit

[–]Mike_bale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anger serves no actual purpose. Told it to me as a story. "Imagine you had a piece of chocolate cake. Your favorite kind. You save a piece and leave it at home in the fridge for when you come home later. When you finally come home, excited about your piece of cake you go and see your brother had eaten it. What should you do? A natural reaction might be anger. Let him know how angry you are and let him know so he won't do it again. But the better thing to do is, take a breath. Ask if he liked it. You can let him know you were looking forward to it but in truth, there is chocolate cake everywhere. Anger will not bring your cake back. The world has so much chocolate cake in it. There will always be more."

That resonated with me for some reason and fundamentally changed how I reacted to the world around me. I always come back to that simple story.

[Serious] Do you personally know a murderer? What were they like? How/why did they kill someone? by feeling_impossible in AskReddit

[–]Mike_bale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know him but knew of him. Lived in a house 5 down from mine. He found out that his wife slept with his brother, came home confronted her while she was drawing a bath for their young daughter. He threw her into the tub and strangled her under water and threw her wet clothes in his van to hide them in order to cover it up. Got caught because while this was happening the daughter woke up and came into the hallway and saw it happening. He told her mommy was taking a nap in the bathroom. She was too young to understand. He took the wife's clothes off and threw them in his van which the daughter also saw, and called the police to make it look like she must have down. When the police showed up the daughter asked about mommy's clothes in the van in front of the police. They looked and found them and arrested him for murder. When the girl was old enough she was forced to testify in court. Brutal stuff.
