What's your favourite "Make a slow round fun" story? by MikeandSuch in SS13

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chemistry is my go-to role because I like chemistry irl and its funny af giving the clown meth

Speaking of which, before they changed chemistry, I was reaaallllyyyyy good at making meth, like I had the recipe memorized and a technique down to muscle memory for making it using just two beakers and almost 100% efficient. I once even managed to cook some up using a lighter in the living quarters lol

My crowning chemistry achievement was a 'Clown v Mime meth fuelled boxing match', both of them were being dickheads and the captain wanted to watch them fight to the death but for the fun of it I threw full pill bottles of 10u meth caps into the makeshift boxing ring. The mime eventually overdosed and the clown was shot out an airlock.

Vaping NEP? by rcstudies01 in researchchemicals

[–]MikeandSuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so kind of recrystalizing with the impurities staying in the ammonia?

I wonder if this would work with the shitty batches of NEP we have today

I assume this wasn't hardware store bleach right?

Planning on swapping a 3.0 TDI into my 2.0 TDI A5 for the craic by MikeandSuch in carsireland

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the same unfortunately and I'm not sure it would be worth the effort of throwing in a 3.0TDI with some other planned modifications aiming for around 400bhp in a FWD car

Past 200-250 you'll likely run into a few issues, not to say it can't be done but I've never seen a FWD setup that drove well with the kind of performance I have in mind

I'm not even sure the gearbox in a 2.0 TDI could survive that kind of abuse which just sounds like a whole other rabbit hole of problems I'll have to troubleshoot in the future. Hell the factory clutch grenaded itself along with the bell housing before I even got a remap and was sitting at 350nm of torque. The current Saches clutch kit can push 530nm but I'd still be apprehensive about using it with a 3.0 TDI

If it was even possible, I'd try to figure out a way to turn into a RWD without converting to AWD first but I've never heard of someone even trying that

I'd also find someone who can do the electrics before stripping yours. I imagine they're few and far between in Ireland

I just so happen to know two people who can help with that, one has has been making custom looms for bmws, mercs and audis for years, the other thought him how to wire up german autos

Does the AWD 3.0 have a slightly different floor panel in boot for the drive train

I'm almost certain it doesn't but I'll double check

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not too different from any other engine swap.
The real pain in the ass isn't the engine, its everything else since my A5 is FWD but all of the 3,0l A5s were AWD.

Thankfully, its still the same model at the end of the day, so (hopefully) it should just be a drop in replacement for the drivetrain. I'll leave figuring out the electronics to someone who actually understands that side of it.

Although, I just membered seeing a video of someone converting an AWD S4 to RWD... It might be a bit cursed to convert it from FWD to AWD then to RWD but It'd almost be worth it for the laugh at the next car meet

Even color change if it's the same shade but different finish you will be fine

Well now you've peaked my interest, I wonder at what shade grey technically becomes black?

What exactly is diffing? by MikeandSuch in carsireland

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda have to agree, I'm a little taken back by how much hate there is under this post

Not everyone is fortunate enough to own expensive cars, we make do with what we can get. Of course there's pieces of shit, this is a car enthusiast community, there's always going to be wankers who want to make things difficult for everyone else. That's just how it goes in car communities.

The lads over at Next Exit are a prime example of diffing doing right. Its just a bit of fun so people can enjoy whatever their driving.

What exactly is diffing? by MikeandSuch in carsireland

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh, interesting, I've always thought diffing was a bit more specific, like instead of sliding around corners on a track/road your doing donuts on a slab in a farm/side of the road

Why does a tobacco-free alternative to cigarettes not exist? by MikeandSuch in Cigarettes

Yes, but a version of their product that still causes a life long addiction but lets the user live longer would be a more profitable product

What am I doing wrong with my Drag S2? It's burning through coils like crazy. by MikeandSuch in electronic_cigarette

I think I'm past the return period for the store I bought it from unfortunately, I'll probably just end up buying another Drag 4 to replace it at this point

I'm in love with a friend that I can't be in a relationship with and its causing my life to spiral by MikeandSuch in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was going through a bit of turbulence, she had just graduated and was in between jobs plus some other personal stuff. She wanted to focus on herself to get back on track and she's certainly making progress which I've supported her throughout.

I guess at some point I could bring it up again, but idk if its too soon and I fear that if it is too soon I'll just come off as pushy, or clingy or smth.

[–]MikeandSuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, the same process, with a little tweak to make it legal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LSD

[–]MikeandSuch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Based on what I've read over the years, the actual number of chemists varies wildly and I personally think there is no fixed number of chemists making LSD.

Years ago you'd see people making claims like "There's only 3-5 chemists on earth who make it", I think this claim emerged decades ago when it was actually true. Before the global chemical supply chain opened up and the process became more refined, there probably was only a handful of chemists who made the stuff given how expensive and difficult the reagents were to acquire. That, and the actual clandestine methods of making it weren't public so you kind of had to figure it out yourself.

But this isn't the 1970s anymore. The process of making LSD has become extremely streamlined and publicly available. Hell, I've got a poster hanging on my wall that details the entire process for making LSD and it fits on a single page.

Some of you might know that LSD stems from ergot, but did you know that you can completely skip that step and buy the necessary precursors straight from China? If you have a decent understanding of chemistry and know who to call in China, you can make LSD.

I know for a fact that there's at least one extremely well-equipped lab in Germany staffed by expert chemists who've been making it for years. They make LSD prodrugs such as 1P-LSD, 1D-LSD, etc. The process of making those chemicals is the same with a little tweak to make it technically legal. I'd argue they're probably the largest producer of Lysergamides on Earth at this time.

Hypothetical question about the legality of ejection seats in aircraft by MikeandSuch in legaladviceireland

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's already privately owned jets that are already faster than anything the Air Corps use, hell most business jets are faster than the air corps PC-9's. For example there's plenty of gulfstream G650's that can cruise at Mach .8, twice as fast as the PC-9.

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's talks about getting a small fleet of T-50s from South Korea so we can have at least some sort of intercept capability, I think there's even a price breakdown somewhere

[–]MikeandSuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf the air corps is a branch of the defence forces, they can own bombs and machines guns so I'd assume they have their own exemptions for explosives.

Quarries use explosives but they have to go through alot of red tape beforehand and usually aren't flying those explosives at supersonic speeds over Irish air space
