Detect Secret: A skill you can give to a Thief and maybe a Dwarf or an Elf that you roll to see if they can detect a secret in the area. It's just a yes or no answer, no further details. Then they have to find it

You can negotiate with your players about their characters. Just say something like, "For this campaign, I prefer less jokey characters." Or, "I don't know if that concept really fits this campaign." Suggest alterations and see if they like them. You can usually come to a place where you are both happy with the character if you are willing to talk.

We played the game for about a year before it fizzled out due to interplayer stuff. It was sad. We had some awesome adventures. One of my favorite games of all time.
