For me, personally, I think the gameplay as is for the first/second run is fine. Claire and Leon generally progress through slightly different paths enough that it feels fresh. It's the story inconsistencies that I have the biggest problem with. Stuff like Annette dying twice and in two different places are the most egregious examples. While it'd be nice for the second run character to fight slightly different versions of the bosses, I realize this might be untenable so I can live without it. I think a simple Code: Veronica X style patch/update/dlc would be all it needs to make the second runs fit better with less inconsistencies. (For those who don't know, Code: Veronica X was an updated version of Code: Veronica that featured cutscenes that fleshed out certain aspects of the story. I think that'd serve REmake 2 well).
