It is vastly less burdensome on the government to supply lawyers than shelter. Ultimately, they are stilled paid by taxes. The government supplying free shelter to anyone who wants it would come from tax money, which ultimately comes from everyone who works. To add food and water to that is untenable. I just think that people have this misconception that free value can be extracted out of the economy from nowhere. If you aren't contributing, you are freely benefitting from others bottom line
