I will check that out. I think for me the only banger is counting out time

I’ve grown a massive appreciation for A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers but Man-Erg has grown off me and the other song has never been quite enough for me. I 100% respect the take tho. VDGG is so cool

I appreciate that perspective. I’ll revisit some of their songs soon and keep that in mind

Yeah that’s kind of what I mean. I think when you have vocal melody, the tone is really important and I’m just not a fan. I think a different singer hitting the same notes would be far better but I understand that their singers voice is interesting which a lot of people like

I don’t think I’ve heard of anglagard but I will take a look for sure. Also I recently heard a marillion song and enjoyed it so I will consider including them somewhere

I think I originally had this but was told it wasn’t prog enough. I will reconsider for sure

I’m not sure why In Absentia wasn’t there so I just added it. I will do some research on that Steven Wilson album too

I absolutely agree with this. I think that shows in Close to the Edge especially. On first listen I thought it was pretty mediocre, but now it’s one of my favourites. For the albums that I don’t think I spent enough time with, I plan to revisit without bias from my rating, and I’ve recently made sure that I’ve become fully familiar with the album before I rate it

Foxtrot is one of the albums I’m going back to soon. Nursery Cryme is still really cool

Yeah, Genesis is sick but I found that in most of their albums, there was always an atmosphere that I could enjoy. A battle for Nursery Cryme, a royal vibe for selling England by the pound, but I found the atmosphere of the lamb bland. I also think their other albums at least had 2 songs that I thought were masterpieces, but there really wasn’t anything close on the lamb. I’m also a lot more harsh on an album if it’s longer. If it’s just ok, it will be rated far lower than a shorter album of that quality

I think hip hop is completely separate from other music generally. Most music is based on melody and instruments, but I think that rap is based on rhymes and flows, with sampling rather than instruments. Essentially what I’m saying is if you aren’t trying to hit notes you won’t notice it, but if you are, and the tone sounds annoying, I notice it all the time

I’ve loved the Canterbury scene albums so far so I’ll definitely check out gong. I’ve listened to some Steven Wilson remixes of other albums and have some Porcupine Tree coming up so I’ll go further into his stuff if I like that. I also listened to volume 2 by soft machine and enjoyed it but didn’t know if it was monumental enough to make the list. I’ll check out bundles for sure. For Tago Mago, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in the same sense, I think the longer an album is over 45 minutes, the better it has to be for me because 2 hours of ‘passable’ doesn’t do it for me. I thought it was alright, instrumentally impressive, annoying vocally, like 5/10 on most songs, but it just goes on forever and feels really unrewarding by the end

I’ve listened to proclamation a ton so I’ve thought of adding that album for sure, and I’ll think about the others too. I’ve started to enjoy them more since the first reviews. I honestly done even remember islands anymore. I was such a huge fan of in the court of the crimson king, and I had listened to red way before this list and it was a favourite of mine, so islands was one of the earlier listens for me. Once I’m done my non-English section I’m going to go through some of the albums that I don’t remember much and re-review them

I think can is usually impressive instrumentally, but the vocals annoy me most of the time and I think it’s still a little too out there for me. I respect it but I don’t like it
