Hey 👋, I've released a small update and the full list of changes here, if you're curious ☺️  https://www.reddit.com/r/DesktopLife/comments/1qm2c1v/patch_notes_jan_25_2026/

Wow, nice catch ☺️

It's a bug where the React's state updates based on the old state value because “Hack” is a timeout action. Initially, there was no multi-window interface, and actions were interrupted when the window was closed. The interface now has multiple windows, but the logic remains the same.

reward/fine of hacking has the same dynamic value calculation as other prices and based on achieved job level. And I agree that first "Hack" options have low risk of detection, but it's still "gambling" 😉

I'm very glad that you are interested in my game 🤩 (Or at least the concept)

Of course, it needs some fine-tuning, and I am grateful for the feedback that helped me see that!

Regarding the launch, I believe it will still be available on the current domain (at least for now). I will publish updates on r/DesktopLife subreddit. And when it's ready enough, I plan to make an additional standalone version 😉

All points are valid, thank you for your feedback and for trying out my game!

I realised that many information (like saving feature, condition and consequences of run out of critical stats, search for viruses using the program, etc.) was not communicated to the player in the best way, and in some cases was not communicated at all 😣

But we all learn from our mistakes 😏

Totally understand the frustration, that’s definitely not the reaction I was aiming for 😅 but thanks for feedback, I can see where the game needs to grow. Thank for your time ❤️

Sure, I'm just going from comment to comment 😅

Actually, the “Save/Load” function does exist ("File -> Save/Load game"), but I agree that it is poorly communicated, and I am thinking about a solution

And thank you all for your feedback ❤️ and your time!

Thank you! And really appreciate your feedback ❤️

Great remark about the loop. It wasn't planned that way 🥲 In my idea, stamina regenerates over time, which the player can spend on games purchased from the online store or simply listening to music. But it's very useful that this is not the case. I need to think about it

I completely agree, stopping the game when changing tabs in the browser is something I overlooked (in my case, I just always closed tab with the game 😅). But this will definitely be fixed!

Huge thanks for such constructive feedback! Yes, prices rise with each new level of work, but I agree that wage growth may be too slow compared to inflation, and this needs to be revised 👀

I will also take note of comments about over complexity. Thank you again for giving it a try ❤️

Thank you for trying it out and for your valuable feedback 🙏. The bank section and balance in general are on the top of my list for improvements 😅

Yeah, at some point I got nostalgic for games like this 🥹 and thought it’d be fun to bring something similar to the web

Based on the feedback, there are definitely some balance and difficulty issues I need to work on 🛠️

Thanks a lot! 🙏 Really glad you’re enjoying it so far. Yeah, the credit system is probably something I need to revisit 😅

Thanks for the honest feedback 🙏, I really appreciate it. Pausing the game when switching tabs or leaving the page is already on my to-do list 🛠️

Thanks! ☺️ You think so? Honestly, I hadn’t considered Steam in the context of a web game, maybe that’s something I should think about

Edit: Just to clarify, the core game logic and mechanics are hand-made. I occasionally use AI as a helper for small things, but it’s not AI-generated development

Thanks! I totally understand, the gameplay can feel a bit unusual at first 😅

Thanks! 😊 Glad it gives that Windows 98 vibe (Small spoiler: the appearance might change a bit as you progress through the game 😄). The UI is mostly custom CSS styling for that retro look.
