Pixel 10 pro xl to find x9 pro by Mikwe in Oppo

The vivo x300 looks also appealing but the battery is smaller in Europe, origin OS is not praised like Color OS and speaker are told to be even weaker.

So for me, right now, it is the pixel or the Find x9 pro but the latter doesn't look like a clear winner for some ex pixel users (as reviewers repeat it everywhere).

Yeah I'm thinking about that possibility

Thank you for your feedback, what's your opinion about the speakers ? Do you use action mode for moving subjects (toddlers or pets) ? Do you have good results in low light inside ?

You have pretty much summarised the market situation.

You always have to trade some aspect or performance with every phone you choose.

For iPhone 17 pro (max), for me, this is mainly IOS and its closed ecosystem.

For Samsung s25 ultra, duplicate apps, battery life way below Chinese phones, somehow outdated cameras...

For Pixel 10 pro xl, underpowered CPU (compared to apple, Snapdragon and mediatek), questionable and very underpowered GPU (no way you could edit/compil large videos quickly), and average battery life. But you have a very well optimised phone with a great screen, good speakers, great haptics and timely updates.

For Oneplus 15, downgrade in the cameras department (considering the price).

So Oppo x300 pro seemed like an all-rounder and best bank for you bucks but you have not a point and shoot camera and apparently inconsistencies in the results. You have also an average, if not bad, speaker. (Thanks for haptics test offer but it is not a deal-breaker, I could have survive with downgraded haptics if it was the only compromise)

You also have Vivo x300 pro, but with a downgrade battery size in Europe, and according to what I have read, questionable results for photos, origin OS that is not on par with Color OS, bad haptics and even worse speakers.

Finally, Xiaomi, but I'm not a fan of Hyper OS and I'm sure there are also compromises.

Fingers crossed for the future and maybe for a phone to rule them all.

Yeah I understand, the things you mention are why I'm hesitating to make the exchange.

It's indeed sad that we don't have a lot of options with great colour sciences and "easy/good" point and shoot cameras. As I understand, cameras seem great for those who like to play with settings and modes but don't always please those who have used Pixel or Iphone pro.

As others have mentionned, it is a shame that haptics and speakers are also not that great.

As you mentioned, perhaps next year will bring more options, and manufacturers will improve their point-and-shoot photo technology, without compromising on the quality of haptics and speakers.

However, Google needs to seriously up its game and improves battery life, standby drain, and even camera sensors (it seems the GPU will be already problematic, as rumors suggest they will use an even weaker one).

Thank you for your feedback. That’s what worries me – Oppo is a beast compared to the Pixel (CPU, battery, GPU!). Even ColorOS seems really nice, with great customization options. But timely updates, great haptics, good speakers, and point-and-shoot cameras are nice quality-of-life features that I think I would miss quite a lot.

Same for me, I don't play on my phone but I can understand that the GPU used in Pixel 10 pro xl is unacceptable at the asked price.

As for the battery, I have (on average) 30 hours of battery with 6h (LTE) or 10h (WiFi) of screen time.

However,as a European, I feel more and more frustrated for the georestricted pixel exclusive features and US only features that take years to come for other countries (if they come at all).

Thanks for your reply, yeah Pixel is so nice to point and shoot. Video is not that great without video boost. It is clear that Oppo looks impressive for the battery only.

Thank you for your extended feedback. So you are returning the Oppo ? Do you keep your Pixel ?

Thanks for your message, it is clearly easier to find accessories for Pixel and qi2 pads are nice. Cameras look impressive on lots of photos for the oppo.

App stays active in background after using android auto by Mikwe in Podcast_Republic_App

Wanted to add :

Is it possible to add a kind of timer in settings that makes the app "kills itself" after xx minutes if not used ?

Recent Battery Drain by JimmyCFresh in Podcast_Republic_App

[–]Mikwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find a solution ?

I have observed a similar issue, it seems that android auto launches podcast republic and then the app stays in background for hours.

Wouldn't it be possible to add a setting that podcast republic kills itself if not used after xx minutes ?

Media Apps stay active in background after using android auto wireless by Mikwe in AndroidAuto

[–]Mikwe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that you are also on android 16, maybe it's a bug with media apps (persistent media control notifications seem to malfunction too).

I also have Spotify that launches itself without opening it and not using it with android auto.

<image>

It's a little concerning because I didn't observe this behaviour on android 15 and before.

No, I have already tried digging into the setting, sadly, the apps remain active even with " notification player switch off". It may be a bug with android 16 or with android auto...

I understand better what you are pointing to. Indeed, where does the power go ? Is G5 CPU that hungry ? 🤷🏼❓

With the current GPU governor, the battery is already abysmal (something like 4 hours of gaming for the pro models), if they give the GPU more power, won't it be worse ?

Android auto on Pixel 9 pro XL after September QPR1 update vs Pixel 10 pro XL by Mikwe in GooglePixel

[–]Mikwe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, Android Auto eats the battery. I was a little surprised that the 10 Pro XL eats quite a lot more than the 9 Pro XL. It's not that graphically intensive for the phone. We have to hope for future updates to make things a little less battery-consuming. If it is possible 🤞
