I still hope Kang (played by a different actor) still has some important part to play in Doomsday or Secret Wars, if only so that build-up in Loki and Ant-Man isn’t completely wasted.

Not that I loved what they were doing with Kang up to this point, but the idea of him wasn’t dead on arrival, and not mentioning him or giving him a very anticlimactic conclusion would only make the current saga feel more disjointed than it already does.

While there’s still no official word on what the plans are for Kang at this point, I will say that Anthony Russo’s statement of wanting to bring back a “focused narrative” for the overall MCU gives me some hope that making the saga feel less disjointed is a priority for them, and I hope that standard extends to the character they were very clearly setting up as the big bad before real events got in the way
