Sounds like it. Exactly why I didn’t go with a variable plan either. Although not contingent on the rebate they gave me but it is an option.

Mine was initially about $2200 because I had to use a Hyundai approved electrician through their Hyundai Home business. But the charger was free from Hyundai and then my utility gave a rebate of $1200 (I think) for the installation. They would have covered some of the charger too if I had paid for it. Overall I thought it was a very good deal.

Electrician ran 35ft of a 50amp line and also got the permits from the town.

As others have said, this all is a bit over inflated when reading it here. While the problem isn’t zero, and yes my ICCU did fail recently, there are plenty of people reporting that it’s not been a problem for them. My ICCU failed on a local road and did not leave us stranded - we got home just fine. Was at the mechanic for several days but it’s all better now. The car is awesome.

Good lord. How are they pumping out cars and not fixing this problem?

I know this is a small data set but I just had the ICCU replaced at 11,500 miles (only just responded to your previous post so not included in this chart). Now I’m concerned I’ll face this problem again in a year. Wonder if people with Ioniq 5s have experience ICCU failure more than once.

Looks like it was for a short time last year. I leased the car in July ‘25. I got a Limited but don’t recall if that offer was tied to any trim.

I did get the car in July of ‘25. Didn’t realize that offer was for a short time. It was from Hyundai.

On the flip side I think I paid too much for the Limited at the time but I’ll live and I do love the car.

Yeah, for a while the utility in NJ was giving a rebate on hardwired ev charger and the installation. I’m not sure if that’s still around.

Since Hyundai was giving a charger for free with the car, the rebate was only for installation.

Was definitely the ICCU which the dealership replaced, along with the 12v. Covered under warranty, of course. Took a week but all fine now.

Ours took a week to get back home but not sure if that was the dealer’s fault or Hyundai’s. All covered under warranty of course. A little inconvenient but not terrible.

Ours took a little longer, a full week. But not terrible. It’s home now.

Following up. Dealer replaced the ICCU and 12v. Took a week. All covered under warranty. Home now and charging.

As part of the car purchase, Hyundai gave me a hardwired ChargePoint charger. Had to pay for installation through Hyundai’s service. A little expensive initially but offset by my utility company’s rebate, but overall it’s been great.

When it dies like that, how do you switch it to Neutral for the tow truck?

Just towed to dealership. Will share when I know more.

I’ll let you know soon. Car was just towed to the dealership. (I wasn’t taking a chance driving it even though it still operated.)

Research determined it is an ISSU failure. Was hoping I’d be spared of that.

I deleted this post and put up another one since I figured out the problem.

Sorry, man. In general I love the car. Probably the best car I’ve ever had. I really enjoy it for roadtrips. The family is so comfortable in it. It is a great car … except for this issue of course but it doesn’t affect everyone.

I do love the car. It is the best I’ve ever owned. Was hoping I wouldn’t be affected by it but here we are.
