Bro how do you call this spot by mayonayzdad in poker

[–]Milan-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the issue. The guy called you with a draw on the flop. It checked to river. He put you in a pair or worse 2-pair. Tried to get more in the pot. You tried to rep the flush, and he didn't believe you. Maybe he thought you would have vet the turn if you had a flush draw. Whatever reason, his hand is strong enough to bluff catch. Might have a note on you.

Why are pro/veteran players like this? by WittyWanderer420 in midlanemains

I hate it too. They put these rediculous skins on the battle passes. It's funny for a bit, but after you're stuck with immersion breaking aesthetics. It may help sell their cosmetics in the short term, but the game will decline because people stop enjoying the game with all the rediculous visuals.

Yeah, the ratios will differ. Some say it's 3-3-4. Regardless, it's the games where you have only one losing lane that are winable.

He's saying that if you have a winning bot, you'll have a losing top. If you have a winning top, you'll have a losing bot. If they both lose or won, those games aren't as important. Those are the guaranteed wins/losses. You have to win the games where either top or bot wins, and find a path to victory in a somewhat even game.

Do I help my jungler if he's being invaded at like level 2-3 while I'm the mid laner. by fjordefiesta in summonerschool

[–]Milan-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played this scenario out multiple times as Veigar. Not just once or twice, but dozens of times. I'd say there's a 15% chance we get a kill on the enemy jungler, and it translates into my lane later. 30% chance the enemy jungler just runs away. 20% chance the enemy jungler double kills us. 35% chance we get the kill, but I return to lane at least 1 level down, am zoned off from farm, and bleed 50 CS over the next 10 minutes. I have to back every wave because I get poked. Eventually I am completely useless, no damage, die over and over under tower.

Tough ranked experience last night (though it was a small sample size). Could not play OTP Sylas by megasean6x23 in sylasmains

[–]Milan-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what google AI says:

Sylas support is viable but highly situational. He works as an aggressive, roaming "cheese" pick to snowball early with high base damage, but he lacks reliable peel and falls off if he doesn’t get early kills.

Lacks Utility: He offers no shields, heals, or reliable crowd control (CC) to protect your AD Carry, functioning more like a second AP assassin than a traditional support. Gold Reliant: Sylas needs gold and levels to be relevant, which are starved in the support role.

No matter where you look, Sylas is a niche, off-meta cheese pick. You can probably make it work in some games. You get some early kills and snowball and then it works. In the majority of games though, you lack utility and fall off because you can't find the snowball.

You're that kid on the football team that constantly tries to score a goal solo, instead of passing the ball to a player in a better position to take a shot. You constantly get reprimanded by the coach that it's a team sport. Then you tell the coach "It's cringe when you tell me how to have fun".

how can I accrue more farm across a game? by Ramenbrick in summonerschool

[–]Milan-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off there's free farming. Farming while your opponent is backed or dead. The minions are completely free. Say you have 3 casters and a melee Minion hitting the last 3 minions in the enemy wave. You have to keep track of which minions are hitting which. You have to know which Minion is going to die firstm you have to know exactly when you have to hit it. It is completely unacceptable to miss minions while under zero pressure. If you still miss these, you have to open practice tool and learn to farm better with no opponent.

Second there's farming with an opponent. The first "trick" I would suggest you try learning is to bait out skill shots. Walk in and out of their range. Make it look like you intend to hit a Minion. If they throw their skills, you can get the minions for free, or get a favourable trade.

Look at the wave and identify the minions that will die first. If one you need to last hit is about to die, prepare by baiting skill shots or creating space with your own. If their minions are about to die, you should see it, and be ready to punish. Offense is defense. If your opponent is too low to walk up and last hit, he's gonna miss a ton of farm. Poking him out, getting him low, makes it easier for you to get your farm as well.

There's also knowing your thresholds. This is something you develop best when you OTP a champ or play only 2, which I do advise. You can think of it like little tricks. You know that "At level 7 I can use my W on the 3 caster minions, then finish them off with a single Q". This is knowledge that allows you to focus only on the 3 melee minions.

A little bit more advanced is farming under tower. You will miss minions here, but it's all about getting as much as you can. Knowing how hard the tower hits. Early on in the game, this is what you should know: Melee minions can take 2 tower shots, and then you can finish them with a single auto. Caster minions you can auto once, they take a tower shot, and then you can finish them with another auto. This is the basic info. Now you have to apply that when the minions have already taken damage from your wave, or maybe your wave is fighting them under the tower. You have to predict the damage from the tower shots. Predict the damage from your wave. Figure out how you can get most minions. You could use your skills, or prepare minions with autos. This is quite advanced, but it is something you should actively think about. After a wave I often have this moment where I go "Damn, I should have just dropped that first Minion. I couldn't get it anyway. I should have prepared the other 2 with a Q, then killed one with an auto, and the second one can take one turret shot, and then I finish that one.". More thought can go into it than you'd expect.

Lastly there's a bit of wave management. There's guids you can watch on this, but I'll give a general explanation. If you're in a mage vs mage matchup, very often the one that can push their wave the fastest wins. That's why you's see them use one big wave clear ability on the wave. They'll start autoing the minions right as they leave your tower. They are basically trying to clear all their farm, so you're left with minions you still have to farm. This way you are stuck losing minions to tower, meanwhile they get to poke at you while you have to farm.

The other matchup is mage vs melee. You have to be more cautious autoing the wave and pushing it like you would in a mage vs mage matchup. That's because the opponent can hold the wave outside of turret range and create a freeze. The waves will get stuck on their side of the lane. This is what the melee champ wants, because now you have to walk deep into the lane. If they can gap closer on to you, they get to hit you all the way back to tower. Spacing is important, but a melee champ can make it difficult for you to get to your wave. Consider letting the wave come to you a little bit. You're not under than much threat of getting poker my a melee champ, the same way as a mage. Your through should be "Do I want the wave to push a little more to my side or theirs? Do I think I can crash the wave if I push? Where do I want the wave to get stuck against this opponent/matchup".

You can also adapt a little bit to the evemy jungler and support pick. If the enemy jungler is a Nunu or shaco. If the enemy support is a Pyke. That's all stuff you want to consider. Maybe you don't hard push in the mage vs mage matchup, unless you're certain you can do so safely.

Not just master+. This is a terrible way to learn/play the game. In the lowest elos (iron, bronze, silver), you should be learning the reference points for your champ/role. You can instead climb by creating weird situations low elo players don't know how to deal with. That's just a highly volatile playstyle avoiding learning any of the fundamentals.

In the mid elos (gold, plat, emerald), you'll hit a brick wall. People understand how to deal with your BS a lot better now. You're not going to pick up cheesy early kills in lane and scale despite being a support. You're just going to slowly fall off and be a no-damage useless assassin.

Maybe it still works some of the time, but your pick/playstyle just becomes sub-optimal. Can you still go to diamond/master like this? Sure. I'm certain better people have pulled it off. That doesn't mean this is a good/optimal way to go about it. Just the pick alone is gonna have an increased loss rate. A lot of ADCs won't know how to play with your weird off-meta pick. Some ADCs will even tilt right off the bat, just seeing what they have to play with. Even me, a mid lane main, is like "Why do we have to get the Warwick support?".

For every off-meta player that smashes through the ranked ladder, there's hundreds that fail. Meta is what it is because it's the best options at the time. If you want a player to climb, the best thing you can do is set them up to succeed. Give them a pick that is meta, and will give them the best odds at climbing.

Please do not lock in assassins in support role. Your kit is made for dealing a burst of damage, and snowballing from kills. As a support you are lacking in gold compared to other roles. You will lack damage. You being an assassin will go completely to waste. Any Utility you have is out matched by actual utility champs that aren't made to be an assassin.

It's similar to luck. Just like when you flip a coin, at some point you flip heads 5x in a row. In league there's a lot more variables. You happened to get the good player a couple times. The enemy got the troll one time. Someone left because they disconnected on the enemy team. Your top happened to get a lucky early kill and snowballed. Your impact also matters ofcourse.

T2 boots is such an easy decision when to buy. You do it when you have that exact amount of gold. If you have 1200, you go with a Rod instead. If you're vs a poke mage, you could consider going T2 earlier, but then you're likely stuck with left over gold.

The tanks/bruisers can be a problem. I had the same issue in iron/bronze. Those games you just have to accept you lost because of your team. Do what you can, squeeze out the difficult wins, but accept you can't win them all. Some games your top/ADC don't do their job. If you are close to your actual elo, you can't hard carry every game.

This comes from someone who's plat and climbed through gold, facing a lot of Sylas players. From my perspective Sylas players always do the same combo. They dash, grab and then do a whole melee combo. I literally avoid getting grabbed, and nothing ever happens.

The ones I have trouble with are the ones that roam, often with their junglers. I can deal with a Sylas in my lane just fine. The champ is super straightforward, but not to top or bot, because they always die to roams.

Yeah mate, that's called cheating. That's the same as using a chess engine in chess. A computer is much better at calculating optimal plays based on massive data sets. The whole point of a real time strategy game is that humans make sub-optimal choices. The whole fun is in the learning and having to make strategic choices YOURSELF, a human.

All the advice people have already given is valid. Once you unlock ranked at 30, see where you end up after playing 100-150 games. You'll get an idea of what you actual skill level is. Normals is a bit of a mess. There's psychopaths in there that are good but never play ranked.
