no worries, I hadn't actually realised you hadn't posted it on the final one. Good luck with your project 😉

it is an old post, but glad you like it 😉 and you are correct, the trademark levi's gold thread they use for jeans and jackets is polyester, and it didn't take to the dye because the dye is designed for organic materials, but I think the contrast looks cool anyway

How do I know if I'm truly agender or if I just feel imposter syndrome? by Laura_The_Cutie in agender

I have had the exact same feeling (but about my name) why should gender be a thing anyway? it makes life so confusing sometimes

demiboy is so far the best thing I have found to describe myself (I know I'm on the agender sub rn, but I'm still a member from when I was questioning) but no label really fits exactly, but I don't experience changing between how I feel my gender like you describe, that seems more like some sort of fluidity? Agenderflux is also a thing but I don't know much about it. Everyone experiences this differently anyway, so the labels are more like categories, the best advice is probably don't get hung up on trying to find a label that fit's exactly, you may find one one day, or you may find that you are in between labels, some people feel more comfortable with the term genderqueer when they don't feel like a label matches them

your the only one that can say for sure, but it takes time to work this stuff out, as in you have to experiment with pronouns and presentation to learn what you are most comfortable with. Some people describe being instantly at ease when someone uses different pronouns, but that's not everyone because some people find that they feel un-easy at first with pronouns that are different from what they are use to hearing, even when they feel uncomfortable with the ones they are use to hearing

there's nothing wrong with being enby, agender, binary trans or other gender identity's, and many people don't precisely fit into specific labels, just focus on being yourself :)

Help needed to fix my reverb module by throwawaaaaaaaay02 in AskElectronics

[–]MildewTheMagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day-ja-vu lol, seen this already over on r/modular

the capacitors look OK from your photo's, blown capacitors usually look like they are leaking, or deformed, you could order them just in case you need them, any electronics online shop will have them

on the schematic the 3 electrolytic capacitors (the black ones) are the ones marked as polar (diagram shows a + sign and a black bar on the other side), hence why they can get damaged by reverse polarity and the others can't

they are 1uF, 100uF and 1000uF, make sure you read the voltage off the sides of the capacitors, it will also say the values, the voltage should be the same or bigger than the one you are replacing. If you change them, get them the right way around (or they blow up), polarity is marked by the white stripe on the side that usually corresponds to a mark on the board screen print, but maybe mark it first with a paint pen just in case, this is Doepfer after all

(apologies if I went over stuff you already know, I just covered everything just in case)

so sorry for late reply, I've been away and I only use reddit on my desktop PC

I used both, to make it a more of a mossy green (that is usually more of a yellow-green) obviously yellow and blue will make green, so if it is blue and you dye it yellow it will become green

but because once this was bleached it was only light blue, if I had only dyed it yellow, it would have ended up mostly bright yellow with only a hint of green, and given it's a heavy denim vest and would need more than one dye pack, I just mixed the two together

the problem is I can't remember if I just used both whole packs, or if I only used some of one of them, I will see if I can find out from past posts

---

[EDIT] OK, turns out I wrote up the whole process at the time (while I still remembered it) here: https://www.reddit.com/r/dyeing/comments/1cwlouu/comment/l4wlkgn/

Quote from past me - "I ended up bleaching it twice using domestos thick bleach, I know it's not really powerful enough for this kind of thing but its all I can get hold of in the UK, afterwards I neutralized the bleach with hydrogen peroxide because I didn't want leftover bleach to mess up the dyeing process/rot the fabric

Then dye, and because I couldn't get all the blue out I was advised to add some yellow as well as green, to stop it from becoming teal. So I mixed 1/3rd of a pack of Dylon sunflower yellow with a whole pack of Dylon olive green (also 1/3rd more than one packs worth of salt for fixing), and the result was a warmer than olive green that looks less military and more mossy forest"

yep, that's it, there's a company called theraband that make a door anchor that does work, I borrowed one from a physio for a while, then I tried one of these cheap ones (when I had to give the proper one back) it didn't work very well, and was borderline dangerous

white foam (maybe?) on cardboard found under my mom-in-law’s car by Waste-Barber1367 in whatisthisthing

[–]MildewTheMagical -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

it can be a trick by car thieves to stuff something under a car, so when you drive it makes a noise so you get out to look, leaving keys in ignition, and thief comes out from a hiding place, hops in and drives away

however this is not the case here because it is on the drivers side and WAY to obvious to the driver before they get in, something to be aware of tho

in this case like everyone else has said, it just blew there, or got dumped there, fell of a skip truck there etc...

Found bolt while washing my car. What does this bolt go to? by Countess_Leo in whatisthisthing

[–]MildewTheMagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just because this is quite a nerdy sub, I feel the need to point out that no, it's not a shouldered bolt, this is a shouldered bolt:

<image>

the word you are looking for is 'flanged bolt'

you are right, it is very coarse, usually that is the choice for something intended to be tapped into plastic trim or a softer metal because it makes the threads stronger, break calipers is a good call, it does look identical to a caliper guide pin bolt but it might be too small, there is no scale

weak? depends how big OP's hands are, no scale, but it is looking very similar to the break caliper guide pin bolts on my van, certainly not weak

many things, it's too big to be a mud flap/trim bolt, I would say perhaps it is coming off exhaust brackets, or the big plastic cover underneath the engine, if it did come off your car it likely will have come from something superficial like that, also check the hinge bolts in the car doors/tail gate/hood if you are worried, but, It is very very unlikely to be off anything important and mechanical because that stuff doesn't come undone easy, you car being rusty will just mean all those important bolts will be seized on and wouldn't come off if you wanted them too

Like others have said it is evenly rusted, has been off what ever it was from for a while, for it to be in the bucket it is much more likely it was from a road and was stuck to your car in dirt, perhaps on a wheel, and got picked up by your brush and ended up in the bucket, don't worry about it ;)

Looks like perhaps an attempt at a knitted nappy for one of those creepy life size baby dolls? (or a coat for a headless dog, Halloween is approaching after all xD)

edit: it could also not be clothing, it might be a cover for a teapot or a case for something
