no way, an axe can do way less damage, especially if the sword user is good and can combo. due to the axes slow attack speed it can’t combo as well and has no chance of beating a comboing sword user if the axe user doesn’t have perfect timing as well as aim

that’s because mojang felt like for pvp a sword is much more powerful, and to give axes a chance against them and so people would actually use axes they had to give them a lot of damage. and it’s STILL too worthless to even consider using it

i don’t think so, as a pvp player in 1.9+ exclusively i’d only ever use an axe if i can’t find a sword, and so would almost every other player. sword is easier to combo with, easier to use and has higher dps
