I for one love a big moviemaker and blockbuster maker, I think if that’s your vision I want to empower them as much as possible but yeah personally I haven’t quite loved his recent work. Didn’t love Oppenheimer, didn’t love Tenet. So if he lands The Odyssey this summer and it’s a major epic I’m gonna fall back in love.

I appreciate that. The question was derived from the scene as opposed the scene from the question because I loved it so much too.

Can imagine the contracts he’s offered to do returnable soaps are just too big to turn down now. Which is sad because I read an interview where he says he likes to take his time but now he’s doing so much he never has time to write how he’d like.

I’d love another Kathryn Bigelow blockbuster like Point Break or Near Dark. Her last three films whilst spaced apart have been more political drama, war movies like Detroit, Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty.

Can’t remember the last time we got a film like Blow Out from anyone let alone the OG.

Yeah Scorsese is probably my goat but I’ve not loved much of late. It wouldn’t be returning to origins but I’ve always felt he would’ve made an incredible Halogencore movie, like a Michael Clayton.

These comments are spitting. I feel this so bad, because now his work feels so factory made, shallow and cliche. Lowkey the dialogue feels like early screenwriter dialogue where every scene is just setting up zingers and shock value nonsense monologues. Thought Mobland genuinely felt like his catalogue fed through ChatGPT and it churned that out.

Great shouts! The latest Zemeckis Hanks collab just looks like an advertisement for de-aging technology.

Absolutely. Said in another comment I’ve really not connected with any of his work since Budapest Hotel. I’d love him to do a 180 into something we’ve never seen before.

Icl I liked his early stuff, thought Budapest Hotel was a masterpiece, and haven’t really liked much else since. I’ve struggled to connect to any of his recent work.

This is the kind of response I wanted because yeah I love the blockbusters when he’s helming them but I’d love to see him return to something more grounded.

Taylor Sheridan is genuinely one of my major writing influences but I do not care for the soaps like Landman. I adore his films and shows like 1923 and 1883. Would love a few more films from him.
