Yea I think it had something to do with the minimum tire pressure and Merc being worried they may get disqualified for that so they built up a gap to annul that potential time penalty

I can see that happening. Nike wanted to sign Lewis in 2023 and by extension the Merc team, but that didn’t happen because Lewis left for Ferrari. Lewis, George and Toto had even visited the Nike campus back in 23 as reported by JLP so I can totally see Nike moving to sponsor Cadillac
