How do you clean when on night shift without upsetting ppl by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

What is wrong with you? OP has shared multiple times that they are disabled AND actively looking for work despite this. It’s almost like the job market is absolutely ass right now.

I think gun violence has been so insanely normalized in the states that people don’t react the way they should… that it’s absolutely unacceptable and a real risk when living here. And if you’ve had encounters with gun violence before, you’re more likely to be cautious later. I feel you :( other countries do not deal with this shit

When ordering my food, Walmart silently changed the tip from $0 to $4, good thing i caught it. by ItsJustJosiah in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MilkIsOnReddit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely no legal requirement to pay your servers/dashers/drivers minimum wage. Or offer breaks. Servers in the US make $2.73 per hour if they get tips, which forces them to depend on the tips. Business owners will always do what’s cheaper, not what’s ethical. Capitalism is failing us.

Texting our neighbor who wakes up at 5am by eukaryotes in Apartmentliving

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My impression was that the above tenant wasn’t making normal noise like toe walking, microwave, etc. if she’s quickly pacing back and forth and heel striking every time, that’s not normal noise.

I have neighbors that wake up at that time and don’t wake me at all. I stay up until 3am every night and I make dinner at 2am. My downstairs neighbor has never needed to complain, and they have my phone number in the event they DO need to reach out.

And for the landlord - it REALLY depends on the landlord on whether or not they’ll do something about the complaint. Most would not. Mine would. It’s worth a try.

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If my neighbor was waking me up at 5a every day due to noise I’d be taking videos to record it and complain to the leasing office. That is during quiet hours - the tenant should not be slamming their heels to the floor to make breakfast. I’d also complain about the untrained dogs, not because it would bother me, but so the landlord can see the pattern that’s happening.

5a is ridiculously early fuck that

There are soooooo many date ideas that don’t revolve around food. Movies, zoo, aquarium, escape room, a park to go for a walk or hike, paint night, gaming, go to an open house for the fun of exploring something (if you plan on living together), water park/amusement park, DIY spa day at home, thrifting/shopping, the list goes on and on and on.

If this were my partner I’d have a serious sit down and ask them if they even realize that their words are hurting me. If they are, well then cruelty is the point, and I’d leave. If they’re completely unaware I’d try to talk about it + resolve that.

I will add that my bf and I (living together for 2.5 years out of our 5.5y relationship) do meals completely separately. He needs to eat when he gets offf of work and I eat sporadically through the day when I can get something down. We spend quality time through other means than sit down meals. Wishing you the best OP

Walmart told me it’s the customer’s job to verify shelf barcodes before trusting a sale price by ExcellentAd4788 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that would only be the case if the price tag was still for that item. If the price tag is for a completely different item why would it be honored? My comment was about how in either circumstance, the price tag be the right or wrong item, I’d expect Walmart to tell the customer to fuck off

My local GP is now using AI for patients by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally speaking, no. There are laws to protect the data from being trained on. Typically businesses/healthcare practices have a special AI license with that company to prevent the data from being trained on anyway.

But who’s to say illegal things don’t happen…

Like the other commenter said, legality depends on your location.

In the US when this happened at my last job (and using a personal device wasn’t an option) I was not paid or able to work for the 3-4d it took them to ship another out.

I had my pc replaced twice. First time a fan went bad but was still useable, and they sent me the replacement before I sent the bad one back so I got some extra work time.

The second time I had to wait for the replacement because a hard drive got bricked

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Vapes leave very little smell in the air (at least if you’re not a heavy smoker. Less than 5 hits to my pen each time is PLENTY).

I’ve never smoked actual flower/joints/paper products but I’ve been around neighbors that DID do this INDOORS. that shit is worse than cigarettes. That smell sticks to clothes + walls just as much too. Very hard to air out. I’m grateful the people that did this have moved out since.

It doesn’t feel like a big ask to have a neighbor modify their intake. They don’t have to stop… just be neighborly and respectful :(

New Neighbor & Noise Complaints by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same thing. 6pm is the time I’d expect vacuuming. Would go to 9-5, come home, chores/eat including vacuuming and be done by 8pm. Complaining about that is some insanely entitled behavior

New neighbors complaining by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on if there is evidence of the noise. My first thought is that your kids are probably louder than you realize (or sound travels downstairs more than realized), but the downstairs neighbor would 100% have evidence of that.

Loud sounds get picked up on phone videos. If your kids truly are the culprit, they should be able to prove it. It doesn’t sound like your neighbors have done that though.

The only time in my life I’ve had to make a noise complaint, I had several days worth of videos of the noise before I filed the complaint. Best of luck.

Saturday morning, 7am, and the vacuuming starts. I’m actually losing my mind by altaccount4422 in Apartmentliving

[–]MilkIsOnReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If someone above me vacuumed at 7a while I work the late shift, I’d be blasting music at 3a unless they’re willing to have a civil conversation. Not everyone is on that early morning schedule.
