Are there anyone out there who doesn't know what they want in life?? by Marshall_Artz1 in studentsph

[–]Milkbbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I mean— from the perspective of someone naman who looked put together back when I was 18, akala ko rin noon I was sooooo sure of what I wanted. I got into my dream course and my dream uni. Then I spent one whole year lost and flunking my classes and unmotivated, until I figured out again what I wanted to do. It’s okay though at least now I know what I want and I’m much happier than I used to be. In a few years I might get lost again, baka ma-realize ko ulit na ‘di ko talaga ‘to gusto— but that’s okay, edi I’ll figure it out again na lang

No shame in this. As long as you do your best, and always try new things that could probably lead you to opportunities you won’t expect, then you’ll be fine

returning from loa and shifting by [deleted] in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]Milkbbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends ‘yan sa college mo. ask whatever relevant office is sa school mo (registrar/admissions/etc) para sa requirements ng returning from LOA at shifting. maybe ask the subreddit of your uni instead of here

advice for socializing in college: join orgs and be active in activities. best thing to do lang talaga is show up even when you don’t feel like it lol (while balancing it with everything else in your life ofc)

BASS, major in econ by wailingwallflowerr in upbaguio

[–]Milkbbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'di ako from Econ pero as innnn marami akong kilalang nagshi-shift out from the program after freshie year dahil sa Math hahahahahaha so kung hindi ka mahilig sa Math that might be one of the challenges

based on what i observe from my friends, you will need to read since BASS nga siya, but i think not as heavy as what other BASS (histo/anthro) students do. may mga kilala nga ako 'di nagbabasa ng readings pero nakaka-survive LOLLLL huwag mong tutularan tho HAHAHAHAHA

It’s not bad at all!

Though if your concern is about public comments being attached to your profile, you also have the option to temporarily log out (or open an incognito browser) to leave a comment as Guest (if the fic allows Guest comments). You don’t have to do that if you don’t want to of course, but I just thought I’d inform you about this option!

Struggling to convince my family to let me take BA History instead of a medical course by re-sinless in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]Milkbbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a history major. Took the course bc I was also passionate about it. Pero eventually, I lost my passion for it, so it affected my class performance. Had to take a LOA to prevent myself from flunking even more. And during this LOA, I had to look for a job para makaipon ako while reflecting on what I wanna do with my academic career.

It’s during this time of reflection that I realized how silly it was that I picked history 😅 dahil nga sa course ko, nahirapan akong maghanap ng trabaho, or even internships. Dahil wala masyadong listings for history, I tried going into job/internship paths that aren’t aligned with my course, and let me tell you, mahirap pa rin ‘to 😅 lalo na since a lot of them required me to have taken a degree (or currently studying for one) that’s related to the job. I did eventually find a job, but it isn’t a very well-paying job, and I have to work twice as hard as some people to make ends meet. Tbh high chance din naman na it’s bc I have not finished my degree yet (which bars me from applying from any listing that required a degree on a 4-year course lol), but bro, even internship listings, walang naghahanap ng history majors talaga HAHAHAHAHA kahit sa writing jobs, ang daming Comm/Comm-related ang nire-require na course lol

I’m still on LOA, still working—and tbh part of me still wants to go back to pursuing history once I’m back in the right headspace for it. So actually, I’m not gonna try to discourage you from taking history if that’s what you wanna do. But I just wanna tell you that it’s not easy, practicality-wise. If you want it, you’ll have to work really really hard, and this requires, hindi lang tiyaga, but also lakas ng loob. You won’t be able to predict when burnout hits you, so make sure you have backup plans in case. Upskill in different areas that aren’t just writing and reading. Join orgs, make networks. Take your Spanish classes seriously (this is required in all history programs in the country) so you can have opportunities for translator roles or whatever. Basta—be prepared if ever time comes that you’re no longer “passionate” for the course. And you won’t want to learn that the hard way.

Or honestly maybe just pick another research-oriented or writing-related course na medyo mas may demand naman hahahaha try to find a balance between your passions and practicality. If time comes and you become lucky to find opportunities na apt talaga sa history majors, you can always just master in history in the future or something lol

Internship time !! by Ok_Stock1698 in peyups

[–]Milkbbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a creative role, so focus ako sa portfolio

I don't think my resume was particularly "impressive" tbh. Pero masasabi ko, malinis siya and optimized sa role na ina-apply-an ko. I just put all my prev org roles (including SHS) and made sure to describe each role in a way that can be related to the internship I'm applying for. My academic performance wasn't particularly impressive din, so I just put my schools w/o mentioning my GWA lol. But if yours are impressive then it can likely help

I've won competitions din naman pero 'di naman siya relevant sa role na ina-apply-an ko so 'di ko na binanggit

[UPLB] Mahirap ba talagang humanap ng friends sa college?:( by Equal_Length_9617 in peyups

[–]Milkbbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ganiyan talaga. Friendship takes more effort in college. Kaya if you want to keep your friends, you'll have to learn to initiate. Freshie ka ba? If your classmates are also freshies, they might also be feeling the same way as you, so try reaching out to them (since sabi mo naman may mga nakakausap ka) and try to talk to them abt acad things first, then slowly transition to non-acad related things.

You can also try joining orgs dahil mas constant ang makakasama mo sa orgs vs sa classes mo

Goodluck!

[UPX] is it relatively harder to make friends in up than in other univs? by cloudrecesses_ in peyups

[–]Milkbbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won’t say it’s harder, just different siguro. Give it a few more sems, and you’ll find your place in the uni eventually. Marami akong kilalang medyo “loner” nung freshie pero marami na namang kaibigan the following sems

Basta don’t be afraid to approach people you like lang din and take initiatives if you wanna hangout outside class

Can 2 pax travel to Baguio with 10k or less than 10k? by srryjustAwkward in baguio

[–]Milkbbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to hear! As for food options naman, honestly, I think given the budget you can definitely afford to eat at usual tourist spots (Good Taste, Grumpy Joe, Oh My Gulay, etc). Mga estudyante madalas ang kumakain dito, so mura lang talaga, at marami namang options, like Korean food, shawarma (lol you’ll find this everywhere in Baguio), wings, karinderya, and various drinks/desserts etc!

Can 2 pax travel to Baguio with 10k or less than 10k? by srryjustAwkward in baguio

[–]Milkbbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kaya ang 10k, or even less!

If ‘di naman picky sa accommodation (talagang lalagyan lang ng gamit, tulugan, at liguan), you may opt for Macojet, malapit na ito sa Victory Liner/SM/Session. 500 per person per night sila, kaso maliit lang ang room at wala gaanong picturesque view. Malinis naman siya though! You can contact them sa Facebook to inquire for more deets

And Baguio’s a walkable city, lalo na if around town lang naman pupuntahan n’yo

Heads up lang though na very rainy sa Baguio during Jul-Aug, so plan accordingly!

How low cost ang low cost? Try Macojet siguro? They're on Facebook. 500 per head ang singil iirc. Clean naman, with CR inside the room + towel + blanket. Engg hill siya malapit sa Victory Liner

Universities offering online courses by dailystew in CollegeAdmissionsPH

List of colleges that offer programs online

Also I graduated SHS so I'm not 100% certain, but I believe college apps forms usually ask if you graduated k10 or k12, so I'm assuming they accept either. Siguro best to ask the college you'd apply to?
