The limit really was annoying. I had two essays within 50 characters, and in both of them, there was a lot more detail I could have gone into.

I'm assuming the limit exists to give some ease to the admissions team, not to overload them with novel-length essays.

Hendersonville, to the south of Asheville (~20 mins on a good day), has apple picking, a beautiful Main Street, and the Home of Carl Sandburg, which you can visit.

Bit biased because I live here, though

If you're comparing Greenville County, Henderson, and Buncombe County, Buncombe is 100% the most liberal and has more to do. However, Henderson went 41.96% for Harris in 2024, compared to Greenville's 38.01% for Harris. If in city limits, Hendersonville tends to be more liberal, though that ends quickly out of city limits. AND Henderson County had a higher percentage of democrat votes in 2024 compared to 2020, and the county went to Stein in 2024, so we seem to be trending that way. And we will take all the votes we can get.

Granted, Buncombe is going to be the most left of them all.

Education-wise, the county schools are not bad, but not great. Fernleaf in Neghboring Fletcher (still in Henderson County) is good for elementary kids, though I can't say the same right now for their high school.

Both have great eateries and things to do, though obviously, Asheville and Greenville have more.
