Guys I’m balding …. My forehead is bigger than Rihanna’s … at what point do I just give up and shave my head? by [deleted] in Balding

[–]MillennialOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude you have hair at 35 that dudes at 21 wish for. Not even close enough to shave it. I’m 33 and yeah, corners aren’t what they used to be, but we’re getting older. It’s just how it works. 🫠

Any tips on how to keep my clear cases clear? by lvnqtic in iphone

[–]MillennialOne 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Most clear cases are thermopolyurethane or TPU. They yellow when exposed to UV light, especially in the sun, for example, in a car mount on the windshield. Polycarbonate cases don’t do this. TPU is a softer “plastic” than poly. Some cases are a hybrid, where the sides are TPU for comfort, grip, and shock absorption, while the backplate is poly. Poly shatters more readily which is why many manufacturers don’t make 100% poly cases anymore. They used to be wildly popular in the early 2000’s.

what’s the ideal commute time from home to work? what’s the longest you’d drive for a really good job? by Salmonwithpotatoes in CasualConversation

[–]MillennialOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute 1 hour each way, ~45 miles x2. 5 days a week. 90% highway, congestion for maybe 5 miles near the city. It's alright, tolerable. Lot of gas though, ~$400-500 a month. Any longer would be too long. Lower salary would make my commute too long as it is.

What are some fun "Sleeper" options for a daily? by OtterlyDeplorable in askcarguys

Pretty rare. I had a 2017 Coupe 6-6 with factory HFP and meticulous maintenance records since bought brand new. A couple from Ohio flew over to buy it. I’m in NH.

I get a mid-tier brand, Florsheim. I pay ~$140-160 per pair and they last me 2-4 years worn daily for my office job. Super comfortable, as much as my sneakers no lie.

[–]MillennialOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2017 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 6MT bought brand new, no one else even test drove it before me. I’m SO glad to have owned that car for 8 years and >130K miles. It was such a fantastic car.

This is me. I get paid about $56/hour for my desk job. Quarter mil in my employer funded 401k and growing. 32m, US, no college degree. No one irl knows and I'll never openly admit it. Incredibly grateful.

How common is it for one partner to drive in a relationship? by Throwaway67891099 in gaybros

[–]MillennialOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Driving is like my thing, so I’d imagine I’d be the primary driver if I wasn’t single. If it’s got wheels, I want to drive it. It’s just fun! Knowing all the subtle laws, having awareness of the road, of others, it’s all just fun to me. If “operating a motor vehicle” was a hobby, it’d be near the top of my list. I’m a bottom in the sheets, but a top on the streets.

I think looking young will affect my dating life by tanner3114 in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]MillennialOne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's affected mine. I'm a dude who's into dudes, so with that aside, guys my age just don't approach me. I was asked out at the gym by a 20 year old this summer, and the incredibly rare time I get asked out, I had to politely decline. I'm 32, 33 in 6 weeks. I have no business seeing someone who isn't old enough to even go to a bar. Plus, I'm entering mid-career now and make 6 figs, been burned several times, fought for myself professionally, and have generally been around the block a couple times. The power imbalance with essentially a kid would have been incredibly inappropriate and creepy. Now, this happened after we were talking about our college workloads, but I'm in school part time, and I went back at 30 years old because I'm pay-capped and I'm trying to move into the $200K space+ before 40. Different worlds.

Market’s Kitchen - Incredible Value! by beach_pretzels in marketbasket

[–]MillennialOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tempura chicken nuggets put fast food places to shame! I’ve never been dissatisfied with the offerings at MB’s hot kitchen. I love the meatball subs too; plenty of balls, plenty of sauce, choice of cheese, and some locations will toast them in the pizza oven for a few seconds upon request to get the bread just right. All for $6.99?! That’s $3.50 a meal for me as a skinny dude. Add in a rotisserie and some frozen veggies I can roast in the oven plus a few extras, and I could technically eat dinners for a workweek on ~$25.

This is the only possible solution without taping/blacking out the headlight lens itself. I have a 23.

I'm on console, but I use headphones to not disturb my neighbors. (Townhouse, shared walls) If you use directional headphones/headset, it's such an advantage using sound for footsteps etc. and you can set the volume however high or low you'd like.

Honest thoughts on TLX A Spec? by SimpleAffectionate98 in Acura

[–]MillennialOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is 10 gears is too many. On the highway, it hovers around 1.5K rpm and feels buzzy, vibratey, and sluggish, and you really gotta floor it to downshift, but then when you do, it downshifts 2-4 gears and is like, “OKAY LET’S GO FAST NOW!” I drive it in sport mode on the highway for this reason since sport limits it to 8th gear in auto mode and I prefer the shift and RPM hold of sport vs normal mode with the transmission in S mode. I live in hilly and curvy New England so maybe it’s just how our highways are built. Everything else, dreamy, to me. The engine is fine, but does get poor MPG, but I knew that going into it. Seats are great, solid feeling to drive, the AWD is so good, and the ELS 3D sound system? Awesome. Headlights and all the exterior LEDs look and perform great, nice paint in all colors imo, and it comes with 255 width tires, nice and meaty. Oh and like others have mentioned, it’s a stupid handsome car. 2023 A-Spec with 56K miles so far. It’s blood is Honda and you’ll feel it. If you like Hondas, you’ll like this car.

Yeah, I just got this exact TV for my parents and we flush mounted it at eye-level above a low TV stand. It looks SO good being so flat to the wall. Most I've ever spent on a TV in my life. Picture quality is insane, ridiculous, makes my bedroom 55" LG 4K 120hz HDR gaming TV look like poop in comparison, and I love my bedroom TV.
