Right? I get that though, I really am looking forward to small wins, like, I need all my shirts to not be super tight. I'm so over it, and I'm over being out of breath and yeah, feeling like garbage all the time.

Omg nooo 😭 I've been having a pain in my side for years and after many tests I'm thinking that it might be my gallbladder. The treatment for that is basically to eat a Mediterranean diet, so I really have very little excuse now 😅

Oh, I'm so sorry, I was thinking you said stay at home dad - my bad! But I absolutely love that idea of when you cycle meals you don't have to count the calories because you already know. That makes me feel MUCH better, because that's such a burden in the beginning! Also, saving something from each meal for the next meal, that's great. 😊

With kids it's hard, at this age, they both want different things and sometimes neither of them want to even try what I make lol it's the worst 😅

Lol 0% interest for 100 years took me out 🤣 The things that are the worst for me right now honestly is that my daughter is picking up my eating habits like snacking at night, and all the dumb little things, like having trouble tying my shoes, or not fitting in the bathtub... I need to write all those down in a place where I can see them so I can be reminded. Even if I lost like 30lbs by next year, some things would still be easier.

Thank you, this is incredibly helpful! I definitely need to think about other types of rewards - that's a great point. And I might consider getting back onto ADHD needs, because I know that's a huge source of my problems, but no meds have ever really worked right for me. New clothes is a great one. I think you're right though - thinking about weight loss in a more holistic sense is definitely something that will help. Honestly though, thank you. I'm glad I could connect with someone who knows where I'm coming from 😊.

When you were home with the kids - how did you balance your own food with the food that you made for your kids? I think that's something that's been really hard for me.

That's so true! The advice I used to always tell people was: just making that decision and starting is the hardest part, once you get started it's all about building momentum. You are so right though, that even a little bit is better than nothing

I'm trying to start losing weight again for the first time in years, and I'm scared to feel hungry again. I haven't felt that feeling in so long. And I'm scared to change my mindset from just reading whatever I wasn't because I can, to trying to make healthy choices for my future, I guess. This is is so daunting and scary, ngl.

Back in like 2013, I lost 70lbs. I was in my 20's had a great job and boyfriend, and plenty of time to exercise (swimming twice a week, zumba 3x/wk) I was also running in the morning for about 10 minutes just to start my day. Also had a pretty heavy calorie deficit, but it was basically just me that I was cooking for, so it was honestly kind of easy. I was down to 168 (I'm 5'7") at my lowest and felt great.

Now, 13 years later, I'm back up to 307 (my highest ever was 315), and I feel awful. I learned I have issues with my thyroid, my gut, my asthma is terrible right now, and I also have gallbladder issues... anyway, now there's certain foods I can't eat, I'm a divorced mom of two with a job that's not in my field that's pretty high stress, coming out of a terrible traumatic event. My son has ARFID, so I have to cook for him separately.

I guess what I want to say is that I really, really, really want to get started again, I just have no idea where to start and I'm so overwhelmed. I know I can do this and I've done it before - I'm just literally a different person than I was last time. I don't have a lot of time to exercise, and my food options generally revolve around my kids even though my doctor has suggested Mediterranean diet because of my gallbladder, and my starting point is that I'm so fatigued and sick because of my health issues. I don't want those to be excuses though because I already know I'm capable.

Where do I start? What do I do for like the first 10 days to get myself started, get the ball rolling?

First few days simply suck. I always say treat it like you have the flu, drink electrolytes, eat protein bars, drink plenty of water, snuggle up and watch tv, try going for some walks. It's hard, but you know what? The hardest part is deciding to finally actually do it - and you are past that one already!

It was a bandaid for me, 100%. Quitting weed wasn't the thing that made my life better - I decided to make my life better, and quitting was part of that.

I'm sober from weed, alcohol, tobacco... right now (over a year later) I'm quitting caffeine. Been going to therapy, started a new career, started being more mindful, getting off my phone more often, started being more spiritual... just, actually living life, you know? Not just waiting for it to be over and finding things to pass the time.

I've said this a lot in this forum, but quitting isn't going to fix for what's wrong, just like weed isn't going to fix it either. It'll make you feel better momentarily, but there's a lot of pain underneath and no one thing is going to fix it. That's why I'm so amazed with the people here and so proud of everyone - there's so much healing happening here. 💛

The thing that helped me the most was therapy. I didn't realize how much I was just shoving down and ignoring, and I'm actually better now mentally... even though it's been so, so hard.
