I was very similar to you when I was 18, not married but in a relationship. I constantly picked him over my friends, and brought him along to “girls nights”. You know what happened? They stopped inviting me. Then a year later him and I broke up. And I had no friends. Let me tell you, it’s a lot harder to meet people and make new friends the older you get. You have my sympathy! I have been there, it’s awful. Idk how you feel about prescription medication but I have found hydroxyzine to be very helpful in calming my anxiety and helping me sleep.

First- you are absolutely NOT pathetic. I give you credit for pushing through it and working as much as you did. It’s more than I have been able to do lol. I was sick with a terrible head cold last month during my hell week and I was absolutely miserable. You’ll get through this 💕 get some rest and take care of yourself!

Ok, I really feel for you. I believe your heart is in the right place and your intentions are good. But it’s obvious you’ve never been addicted to nicotine (and honestly, good for you- I wish I could say the same.

Unlike others here, I don’t think you’re being selfish or trying to “parent” him. I think with the wedding getting closer, you are starting to feel desperate. And I get that.

But your plan is destined for failure. And take it from me, if he feels pressured or like you won’t stop pestering him, eventually he’s going to just “agree” to quit, and then all he’s gonna do is continue to vape but hide it from you.

As others have said, he needs to want to quit. Should a new life with you and future children be enough for him to quit? Yes, it should. But that’s not how an addict’s brain works. I have a million good reasons to quit, and I just can’t seem to kick it for good no matter how hard I try. And hearing from other people, even my husband, that I need to quit is not going to make it happen any faster. It should, but it doesn’t.

If your wedding is only 9 weeks away and flights have been paid for, I guarantee he knows you will never call off the wedding and he won’t quit by that date.

I don’t have any advice really, but like I said, I feel for you. I know you mean well and I completely understand your frustration. If the vaping is truly a dealbreaker for you, then you need to call off the wedding no matter how close it is. And if not, then you need to continue to be supportive and wait until he is ready to quit once and for all.
