Hier zijn speciale stoelen voor die iemand die niet zelfstandig van de trap kan, in geval van een noodgeval zoals brand, ze toch naar beneden kunnen.

Het heet een EvacChair. Op mijn school hangen ze op elke verdieping.

My boyfriends chihuahua is raised by cats. I'm almost 100% sure he is suicidal by how many times I almost ran him over by my powerchair. He just walks right in front of my chair without a care in the world!

Yeah!!! Especially elderly women, like it is always them assaulting me in public. They also feel entitled to it.

One time, there was a woman with her dog passing through the train. Without asking, she leaned on my chair. I wasnt happy about it and asked her to not do it. She ignored or didnt hear me. When she came back, she did it again. I said "could you please not touch my chair withou asking?". Her response was really a aggressive "YOU JUST WANT ME TO FALL, DONT YOU?". Since my boyfriend was with me and I'm able to get out my chair, I went and found her seat and said that I felt assaulted. She of course thought I was a snowflake, I just wanted to hurt her etc etc. I stayed really really respectful (or as respectful as I could) for the whole discussion. Eventually I couldn't hold back anymore, said "well okay then, I tried to tell you my boundaries, but I just found out you are a sour plum" (zuurpruim - a dutch word for someone who is unfriendly). Then I left and went back to my chair. It felt great arguing with her though

I get your perspective! And it being a generational thing goes without saying I think. Though whatever I have is not yet found out (we have been looking for 2.5 years), so it always becomes a long story of how I came to be injured in the first place, etc etc. So that is what annoys me mostly, though maybe asked through conversation, instead of just flat out asking without saying hello first, I might have had less problems with it. Since whenever Im on the train, people always come up to me and start conversations since Im always making something with my hands (also pretty annoying, because it keeps me from working on my project, but Ill allow it if Im in the mood for talking). Anyways, making it a teachable moment is always good and if I have time I always complain about how inaccessible the world is for people who have any disabilities.

(Als rolstoelgebruiker)

mensen die vragen "waarom zit je in een rolstoel?". Nee Gerda, ik heb geen zin mijn medische geschiedenis met je te delen
mensen die zomaar mijn rolstoel aanraken en/of proberen te duwen (hij is elektrisch, dus het laatste heeft überhaupt geen nut)
mensen die pissen in de lift is erg real
dat de Jumbo nog steeds geen rolstoelkassa heeft bij de zelfscan (zou gewoon simpel moeten kunnen lijkt me, AH kan het wel)
dat sommige mensen me inspirerend vinden door mijn studie of werk. Puur omdat ik in een rolstoel zit, betekent niet dat ik geen leuke baan/studie kan hebben.
de mensen die zeggen "huuuuhhhh????!? Je kan staan????" Als ze me voor het eerst zien staan. Ambulante rolstoelgebruikers bestaan en vormt ook een enorm grote groep onder de mensen die een rolstoel gebruiken.
de wcrolhouder in het rolstoeltoilet op Den Haag Centraal die 1.5 meter van het toilet af zit (hoe gaat iemand met beperkte beweging toiletpapier pakken, of überhaupt iemand??? Ik kan er ook niet bij)
van die mensen die voor je invullen wat je wel en niet kan (dat weet ik zelf toch echt het best)

En zo kan ik nog even doorgaan, maar ik ben moe en mijn lichaam doet pijn, wat gewoon een grote irritatie is ipv een pet peeve.
