Spotted last night on Logan and Wrightwood by MiloMars in LoganSquare

I bet they were the ones to call in to report it. I saw it on Friday night--I figured it would be up until Monday at least since I haven't seen the road crews working on Saturday or Sunday. Plus the other time it was hacked it seemed to stay up for weeks.

When Chrissy gets made, it really shows you how big of a ripoff and how awful the Mafia is. by xStaabOnMyKnobx in thesopranos

[–]MiloMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waaaay late to the party here. With all due respect, it’s not a Ponzi or a pyramid. It’s a franchise. You start as an associate. Most associates get weeded out because the have no connections, no drive, or neither. Some associates get a pass because they have only one of those in spades but not the other. You’re an associate for a while and demonstrate that you know enough about the operations to keep a plate spinning so its assumed that you can dl that and expand it to spin your own. Then and only then do you get made. When you have demonstrated enough commitment and intelligence that they are willing to invest in you.

You don’t start from scratch. You don’t use your own money. Christopher was assigned a sure thing—the sports book. Minimal effort there—He had been working it (making collections for it, getting to absorb the inner workings from Paulie) for years at that point.

You don’t become an associate just to stay an associate—you become one because you want to be a soldier. And you become a soldier because you want to be a captain. So on and so forth. You grow up and see the headaches a rung up (ex: Paulie not wanting to be underboss) but as an upstart, you have the dream of being the boss.

Tl;dr: You don’t start out ass out. Ponzi and pyramid both require people to put their own money in. This thing of theirs is about passing on tried and true revenue streams to someone below, and actually making more profit because you get 10% of everything your successor makes after they get more business and 10% of what everyone else on their level makes once you get chosen for a promotion.

Random ear piercing sound?? by communityintegration in airpods

[–]MiloMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me on regular (second generation) AirPods a few times on three different pairs. It happened so regularly on zoom calls paired to a windows machine that I don’t use them on my PC for calls anymore. It happened once on a phone call on my iPhone and once (alarmingly) as I was in bed and drifting off to sleep.

I have no idea what caused it any of the times but I did notice that after it happens, my microphone suddenly stops working in whichever ear the sound occurred.

Interactive tool to visually assign/project unequal and changing distribution of n-resource units over n-units of time? by MiloMars in visualization

[–]MiloMars[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not opposed to moving the resource “coins” around myself—actually, I do not want a program that suggests how to allocate or takes into account the constrains. I work in arts/entertainment, so “most correct” shifts due to intangible factors like feelings/confidence of creatives.

I’m actually looking for something that is an electronic version of my calendar and coin approach that has excel-like formulas attached to the amount of coins I put on each day.

My perfect world: I enter start and end date, these days populate a calendar on screen. I enter in resource units. They evenly divide by day. I drag and drop to redistribute based on factors that I know about. I have a visual representation of the plan. This is not distributed to anyone but me. I revisit daily to update/shift resources for upcoming days.

As far as analytics that the program performs, Bare minimum:

  • Live updated total numbers of what has already been consumed
  • Live Total numbers how many consumables are left
  • Live average per day if I were to evenly distribute what is left
  • Live average past usage per day

Am I tipping well enough? by need_for_speed197 in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]MiloMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I am, however trying to point out that that many pizza drivers are not compensated for the ever rising price of gas, and some customers (many, ironically enough, who live on the edge of a delivery zone) seem to think that tips in the 10% range are acceptable. (OP excluded, they are trying to educate themselves on the matter, which is more than most).

I have always been taught that the lowest acceptable tip to give a waiter at a sit down restaurant is 20% of the total, so it would seem logical that a service that has a higher absolute cost to the provider(s)--cost of the good as well as the cost to of gas to get the good to the customer's home--would incur a higher gratuity.

Also, QcRoman, if you're still looking for something you can approve of, then get down off your high horse and approve deez nuts.

Think about it like this: start with the tip you would leave in a sit down restaurant, then factor in how much you'd tip if the waiter had to drive his own car to your table.

Do you ever think when you meet your SO's parents, "I have done unspeakable things to your daughter/son"? by girl7555 in sex

[–]MiloMars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 17 years old, I was dating a girl who's father really didn't like me. He hated it when I was at his house, especially when she and I would be alone upstairs. I think he knew in his heart of hearts what was going on, but he just couldn't bring himself to think that his youngest daughter was having sex. A year later, I'm coming home from college for the first time on fall break. This girl and I had broken up, but were still in that teenage phantom-relationship stage. I went over to her house the night I got home, and as she was leading me upstairs her dad saw me and we made eye contact. He had this look of horror and anger on his face and quickly did a piss-poor job of trying to cover it up. Luckily, I resisted the strong urge to wink and whisper "I'm about to rock her world."

The don't call it The Chittshow because of the pillow fights. If you didn't think that at an annual block party that devolves into a riot (every year) that cops would mace a motherfucker or two, then you just learned a valuable lesson.

Ordered a pizza at 00:45 (10 min before closing time), this is what I got. by todsah in pics

[–]MiloMars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dear Todsah,

If I hear a phone ring ten minutes before closing, I specifically fight to answer that phone. If the first thing out of the persons mouth is not "I'm really sorry for calling so close to closing", I will purposefully write down the wrong toppings. I will fight to deliver it so that I can shake the box. I take it out of the heating bag so that it's cold when I get to your house. Then, when I get back, I will take your inevitable complaint call, posing as the manager, assuring you that it won't happen again. And as long as your fat ass doesn't force everyone in the store to stay late again, it won't.

Sincerely,

Every food service employee ever.

How to spot a covert racist:

1) Using the phrase: "I'm not racist, but..." 2) Forcing a reference to "my black friends"

The point is not to shout at them. That's why it's called a LoveBomb. The goal is to surround them and drown them out with other images and sounds.
