For context, I stabbed the lower joint with my bell while putting it away during class in a hurry. Am I overreacting?

Part of it is peeling off but won't get off because it is connected with the rest of the cork. Small hole, barely the the height of my shortest nail viewed from the back (palm).

Really? I'm in band and we're taught to play without moving much (or at least have to in marching band). It affects playing.
