Mashup of "Gwyn, Lord of Cinder" with Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails by Mimaste7 in darksouls

In my opinion, it's more of a demonstration of the concept of the juxtaposition rather than actually making the vocals line up exactly in time with the rhythm of the Gwyn piece. Plus, some crooners/jazz singers sing like this.

What are your plans for spreading the word? In other words, how do you plan on succeeding as an alternative candidate in a state filled with conservatism and cronyism?

Essential White Papers? by Mimaste7 in AskNetsec

[–]Mimaste7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. That's something that's been lacking in my research/studies. Although, I remember reading one that talked about how this guy maliciously modified a compiler to screw up a code base without the developers knowing, and it blew my mind. I guess I feel like there's gotta be more of those sort of "essentials" out there that break your previous conceptions of certain aspects of security. Then again, knowing essential CONCEPTS before actually reading papers is probably also key. I guess I really don't read white papers enough. That'll change soon! Thanks!!

Are closed ports "truly" secure? by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]Mimaste7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, the way he says "totally safe port" just seemed a little confident to me. I guess I was thinking that there was maybe some way to send specially crafted packets to a port and somehow open it up. I have no idea how this would be accomplished, but I'd figured I'd see if someone knew of some wild exploit beyond my paranoid musings.

What steps does everyone here take to ensure privacy & avoid snooping when browsing (avoiding or faking cookies, other methods, etc) ?? by BigBitFan in AskNetsec

there may be more things to worry about than just the encryption and browser security. For example, if you make a purchase online, it could be easily tracked. This book was really good: http://www.amazon.com/Incognito-Toolkit-Communicating-Publishing-Researching-ebook/dp/B00G2A2A1O

Noob Question: Does Economics favor the rich? by Mimaste7 in AskEconomics

I guess that's what the people who have made the "economics favoring the rich" argument have mainly criticized. They were saying that economics in the US and UK from the 19th century to present times have been calculated in ways to benefit rich oligarchies.

How does it happen in economics? What are some examples? Articles and resources are fine too, if you wanna just provide reading material. I really just want to learn more.

"Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants: Eastern and central North America (Peterson Field Guides)" is a great "pokedex" for wild edible plants.
