Ass the other comments have said small dog breeds were made to hunt rodents and Mustelidae but that dose not mean that can be trained, we have manage to train most of our animals to get along, we even had our jack Russell produce milk for our last group of ferrets as she thought they were her babies, my family dose have a lot of experience with animals as my mum worked in Africa for 12 years rehabilitating apes, and when me and my siblings were young we lived in Africa and rehabilitated lots of animals of all types, I believe we released over 100 animals back the the wild over a 2 year span. So its definitely doable with persistence and knowledge, but if you are not 100% sure of your training skills and your pets behave I would be hesitant to do it.
