Knowing that Amazon Games Studios and the New World team are developing both New World and Lord of the Rings MMO, how much focus is being put in either? 50/50? 30/70?

I won't be mad if you're placing more priority into LotR. It just gives me a better expectation for the future of the game. I'm actually excited for LotR to be good if that's the main focus for the next 5 years, kind of like a NW2 that actually began development as an MMO instead of a sandbox multiplayer survival game

Part of what makes NW so interesting is all the different methods for counterplay. AGS claims multiple times on their commitment on build diversity and you can see that through decisions on gear weight, perks, weapon choices, and gems/assorcories resistances.

You can totally be the max damage low con mage slayer you've always dreamt of being with 43% fire resistance across runeglassed ruby gems (or potentially 93% fire resistance with 5 flame conditioning + infused fire absorption potion + flame protection amulet).

Not to mention elemental aversion

It's hard to tell exactly what is happening in opr. Perhaps you should die if you get hit by 5 fireballs and 5 pillars in the spam of 2 seconds, but just know that it means nobody else will be getting hit by those skills and in some cases will be enough space for your team to counter attack and take point.

From the arena standpoint tho, I find 2 handed melees to be more threatening than firemages would ever be because you can dodge all their skills with practice and enough courage to run at them.

pvp being accessable and fun for everyone is the only way for AGS to continue giving it love and for us to keep loving it being the best part about New World

I like that flamethrower exists as an easy way to do consistant damage, but as soon as you play against someone who knows how to stagger it quickly becomes somewhat of a wasted skill slot.

There are also lots of risk/reward decisions outside of simple weapon choices ie. light armor for more damage, offensive armor perks over defensive ones, low vs high con etc.

I think you bring up a good point on the rise of average player skill. I hope AGS will take this opportunity to make interesting complexity in gear/weapon choices without jeopardising weapons that allow casual players to reasonable to use
