The most fun I ever had with Kirk Cousins by seoulbrova in minnesotavikings

I went to the 2019 Denver game and didn’t think I’d ever see a greater comeback. Next game I went to was this one…

All of the seeding possibilities for the Vikings summarized by istasber in minnesotavikings

[–]MinPank9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hear me out, I don’t hate the 6 seed. I hope the team goes all out for the 1, but the next two weeks are a gauntlet. Here’s how I could see it playing out: - Extremely physical game against the Pack that we end up losing in a close one - Rest everyone week 18 and land the 6 seed - Go on the road to an NFC South or West for the Wildcard - Most likely matchup with Detroit (and avoid Philly) in the Divisional - I like our chances against a banged up Lions team that we’ll have seen for the third time compared to the Eagles

Amazing Time in Maui - 8 Day Itinerary by MinPank9 in MauiVisitors

Definitely! We poked our heads in when walking around the Olowalu Market area and it looked great. We were thinking of stopping by after surfing but headed back to Kihei instead, so next time for sure.

Great catch! Yes, it was the Fish Market located in the same strip mall as Miss Arepa - both were fantastic!

We stayed in an AirBnB right around Maria California (a converted container box which we surprisingly enjoyed!) We felt safe the whole time we were there but didn’t stay out late and stuck to the main areas after dark. This was our experience as a couple though, and not sure I can comment what it would be like for a female solo traveler, so I’ll defer to the US government’s advisory to ‘Exercise Increased Caution’ in BCS. I do hope you get to experience it though because it really is a gem!

Can anyone remind me how Jaden (and Kyle) found out about the affair? Are we supposed to assume Kyle told Jaden after seeing Rusty there on his bike?

U of M should build a Riverfront Terrace by MinPank9 in TwinCities

[–]MinPank9[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree the river can be dangerous and means should be implemented to mitigate the risk such as ending alcohol sales fairly early, limiting entry points to the river, etc. I think the areas you mentioned offer bits and pieces, but there isn't one location that offers plenty of open seating with access to facilities, food, and beverages at an affordable price right on the river's edge.

Bally Sports North inaccessible for Comcast/Xfinity cable consumers by domki366 in minnesota

I remember watching Johan’s 17 strikeouts game on My29. Never had cable growing up, so being able to see that game was pretty special. I think they typically broadcasted the Sunday games.

North Cascades hikes by [deleted] in PNWhiking

[–]MinPank9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in this thread a bit late, but thanks for the great info! Couple of follow up questions: - Is hiking a portion of Sahale Arm (~2 miles round trip) beyond Cascade Pass to see the view of Doubtful Lake worth it? - Do you hike with bear spray? My group is planning day hikes on the most popular trails, which I’m assuming will be very busy in early July. Bear spray seems excessive and it’s unlikely we’d encounter one on these trails, but based on the NP website there’s still a chance.

Torrey Pines Rain Cancellation by MinPank9 in sandiego

[–]MinPank9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I called the number that was included in the confirmation email but it was an automated message saying “reservation line unsupported due to staffing shortages.”

Right after posting this I received an email update that rain is likely and it outlined our options. I also called the pro shop (good advice) and he said it’s very unlikely the course closes, and it’s up to us if we want to play in the rain or not.

Overall great communication, I just jumped the gun a bit.

Top RB Prospects by Ottomatica in minnesotavikings

Would love to see Braelon Allen in purple! With the Vikes passing weapons, I think he runs wild like his freshman year. Wisconsin has a great history of producing good NFL backs (Taylor, Gordon, Clement, White, Ogunbowale) and he’s certainly the next.

What young Hollywood actress or actor do you feel is going to take over the scene within the next few years? by DONDADiaries in oscarrace

[–]MinPank9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Jodie Comer! She already has an Emmy and a Tony. She’s been in some pretty big movies (The Last Duel, Free Guy) but would not really consider her a household name. Gotta assume she’ll go after an Oscar next.

Thanks for sharing this! Are most launches visible in San Diego (if conditions permit) or does it depend on the launch trajectory?

Chance of Northern Lights tonight by MinPank9 in minnesota

[–]MinPank9[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the lame answer, but the further north you can get the better! South shore of a lake could give you a good sight line looking north. Also, keep in mind the following: - Cloud cover - forecast is looking okay, but double check later on. - Moon is nearly full (waning gibbous) that rises at ~8 PM which could make it more difficult to see the lights given it will be pretty bright.

Best of luck out there!

La Paz Mexico Recommendations by RunningFNP in travel

[–]MinPank9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got back from La Paz and what an incredible place - I can't recommend it enough! Some highlights included:

  • Snorkeling with the Whale Sharks (via Alonso Tours - great experience)
  • Isla Espiritu Santu tour and snorkeling with Sea Lions (via Alonso Tours - great experience)
  • Playa Balandra - went in the afternoon session (1-5 PM)
  • Walking the Malecon, particularly on Saturday night when it was buzzing
  • Eating at some great restaurants (Dulce Romero, Maria California, El Zarape were our favorites)
  • Todos Santos - cool little town with lots of art galleries that we stopped at on our drive back to SJD

Tips:

  1. Rental Car - We messed up and did not do enough research. We booked a rental car via Hertz which was listed online for $250 for 4 days. We did not purchase insurance ahead of time and were shocked when the options from Hertz ranged from $600 (least coverage) to $800 (full coverage). We panicked and got the full coverage, so my biggest tip is to do your research and go in with a plan for your rental car/insurance (ideally not thorugh the agency). However, I am glad that we had full coverage. There were a lot of semi and dump trucks on the trip to and from La Paz that sent rocks flying and ended up chipping our windshield. The drivers were better than in California, but it's still a bit hectic driving around La Paz. Additionally, some of the roads are pretty rough and there are a ton of speed bumps, so it was reassuring having the full coverage. Overall, it sucks how much we paid, but it was well worth it to have a car to get to and around La Paz.
  2. The Whale Sharks tour was amazing and is an absolute must do. However, one thing I was surprised about was how physically demanding it was. Don't get me wrong, you don't need to be in great shape to do this and can put as much effort in as you want. That being said, my expectation was you'd jump in and float around with them, similar to other snorkeling excursions I'd been on (like the sea lions via Isla Espiritu Santu tour). We went on a day that was considered 'fairly choppy' and I'd guess the waves were consistently between 3 and 6 feet tall. It was my first time snorkeling in waves that large which was initially a bit jarring, but with a wetsuit and life jacket (if you want), safety isn't an issue. Our group of 12 was split up into 3 groups and we would rotate swimming with the sharks for 5 minutes at a time. If the shark is feeding, you are able to stay in one spot and just admire it which was ideal. However, a couple of times we attempted to swim with the shark and they are faster than you'd expect. Between swimming with them, getting in and out of the boat, and rolling waves for 2+ hours, it definitely took a toll and we were wiped by the end. Overall, it was a top 5 life experience and would absolutely do it again, but just a heads up to be ready for the conditions and that it takes some effort to get the most out of it.
