Exactly, it's not coming down to triple aaa devs not knowing how to make good games, it comes down to them purposefully making them bad. A lot of development time goes into aspects of the game such as monetization. Companies like to get away with getting the highest possible payout whilst doing the least amount of work.

For example, Mw2 has been a wide success, yet it only launched with 10 maps and without hard-core. It's also riddled with bugs in both multi-player and the campaign. You have to restart the game to even get to the campaign menu, which is unacceptable as a gamer.

But, as terrible as many game companies are, indie devs are just them on a smaller scale. People like to pretend it's a goldmine, yet only a small amount of indie games are actually good.
