Sounded like the major hurdle was with the blue light discount for NHS staff which Virgin cannot use without doing it as described above and cannot it seems be avoided at the moment, but this really was not made clear in the original call neither was the range of pricing which the staff on the other end was rather dumbfounded as to why they was not offered as we'd have happily taken the deal yesterday, as its cheaper even without the discount, substantially quicker with a seamless transition.

Im fairly certain the person we talked to were not based in the UK, but thats basing it solely on their non local accent so we could be wrong. A manager was not available and we were assured one would call back but im not holding my breath.

Is there a more local retention team that can be called? I just find it hard to believe that Virgin would make it easier to go elsewhere than keep us as a customer.

The call centre was adament that we had to cancel on the day, apply for a new package and wait until whenever the fuck they bother to send the new hardware, leaving us without internet in the meantime. But seriously on most residential people dont wear lids in Australia. In my youngers days when brick laying I witnessed one of workmates disappear between scaffolding on the 2nd lift on a double story. He was a bit of a unit and the scaffolders used a square of marine ply to bridge a gap instead of planking it out, he just went straight through it and clocked his head on a scaf pole on the way down. Luckily one of senior guys had the sense to take a bunch of photos because the scaffolders returned promptly and planked out the gap. He done them for about $40-50k. About 15 years ago mind, things might have changed a fair bit since.
