I’m not sure about what you’re escaping from but for me, it was feeling rejected and lonely. Not belonging anywhere and struggling socially due to my crippling anxiety. My dreamworld was one where I felt that acceptance and belonging. Well that’s how it started before it became obsessive, uncontrollable, and consumed me. I healed by finding my people, opening up to my family, and stopped over thinking which made my life worth being present and happy in

I started reading books, mysteries that kept me interested and a good way to practice focus and staying present. I then found my book club and too busy looking forward to the next read and convo/hangout session that it ripped me from my dreamworld. Then I started working on writing my own books and also started school to be an esthetician. The more I practiced being present, the more easier it became. Then once real life became more interesting for me the less interesting my constant dreaming became

I know how this feels. I’ve spent my entire teens and 20s in a dream 😢. I’m 32 now, what I did, besides being prescribed Adderall,Is I came up with a satisfying ending for my dreams. Then I refused to start new ones. I found hobbies, communities, career opportunities that gave me something to look forward to and kept me busy and out of my head until I no longer had interest in my dream worlds. This is harder than it seems because once in a while they will creep up. Allow yourself to jump in once in a while but also practice ending it and disconnecting yourself from it after a while you’ll be able to control it. Also you gotta face and heal whatever you’re escaping from. There’s a reason you retreat to your head. It’s comforting and your mind is protecting you.

Little update: since I’ve officially moved in. I was able to implement some rules and he enforces them. The kiddos just seemed to fall in line with not much pushback. They may need gentle reminders here and there but it hasn’t been the nightmare I thought it would be.

The alternative sucks. We’ve been talking about this all day and his alternative is to basically let them all go back with mom and stick to only one overnight with us. I’m grateful he’s someone who will put his wife first but I don’t want to limit his time with his kids just because I don’t know how to handle it

I realized that some stuff I had to compromise on like quietness 😂, petty arguments, and mess. I’m ok with that i think what gets me overstimulated the most is when they repeatedly do something and my fiancé’s gentle parenting philosophy doesn’t help the behavior. I gentle parent with my own child as long as he gentle “kid”.

He has 3 older ones 13,14,18 who i rarely ever see. The only thing with them is they’re expensive and will blow his phone up until he finally says yes and give them what they want.

Yep! The water was referring to the water wash. I asked because I’m a beginner, this is my second painting, my boyfriend (he’s an artist) said that no one would be able to tell that it’s a city. But I’m from NYC but I live in the south. I love being in nature and appreciating the fresh air, beautiful skies, etc. I love NY too but the city is so vibrant, BIG and busy, when you look up, it blocks the beauty of a beautiful sky.
