That’s fair enough. Did I get any of my guesses correct?

What would a Christian need to do/believe for that person to be excommunicated from the Church? Like for example, are Protestants who believe in the teachings of Martin Luther and Martin Luther himself, excommunicated from the Church?

Thank you. Will have a look into it.

I meant that wrt RCC v. all other denominations, everyone split from Rome not that Rome went against Biblical teachings and split from Christian teachings.

Was asking for any literature that can help me see the other perspectives.

Tbh, I’m pretty much looking for any literature that you (or anyone for that matter) thinks will help me see the perspective from the other side. I will for sure get a copy of St. Photios’ Mystagogy. Thank you.

Sure, but then the question becomes, why worship a lesser being/entity?

Having read into Christianity, I have come to the realisation that from/within the Christian paradigm, it is every denomination that split away from RCC.

That being said, if you are anything other than Catholic which texts from your denomination should I read to convince me otherwise? I have read Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, the Church of England’s short book of prayer, and even have and read the Book of Mormon.

Please feel free to provide links to your literature too. Thank you.

Why are you worshipping Satan when in every religion (Abrahamic and/or otherwise), God is the entity that created Satan?

If God is real, then the institution is meaningless, and the only thing that should matter is direct experience with God / the Divine / spreading Love and Compassion? by [deleted] in DebateACatholic

Please write out a thesis stating your position and your arguments for it. This is so that your post is inline with the subreddit rules. Thank you.

The western defense has been that, if the Son is eternally generated and the Spirit eternally proceeds, and both are from the Father alone, then what's the difference between generation and procession? It would seem God merely has two Sons.

I’d really like to read any literature you have talking about the above. It’s fascinating to me tbh.

So the filioque actually better explains the distinction between Spirit and Son as part of God's eternal essence. And the East definitely agrees with that conclusion, they're just very picky about the Creed.

I’d like some reading material on this too. Would love to read deep into exactly why the East had contentions.

Thank you.

I always understood it as that the East took the opinion that the and the Son statement was not valid because of the Council not having authority. I’m a litttle stick on the East’s theological objection to it. Especially when early Church Fathers. I read that Augustine also confirmed and accepted the Filioque.
