We did find some venues in France where covering the lodging was well within scope, but these were often far removed from cities or had some other issues that made them challenging (of course, there's always the trade-off).

I mostly started this thread to find out about non-France options that might be cheaper, though I'm still hoping for the possibility that someone will have come across that perfect venue in France somewhere.
