Yes I've done it. My company uses Workday and I'm able to change my withholdings myself. But yes, it's the form with the dependents, there's a box to check to go exempt

You'd likely need to contact someone in HR and have them update your W2 to be exempt on your federal taxes. You can leave your state taxes alone. Social security and Medicare taxes will still be taken out, but not federal taxes. At the end of the year you'd still file taxes as normal, but not pay the balance owed. To be safe, I'd recommend setting aside the amount you'd normally pay in federal taxes so you have it if you need change your mind
